Well so far we've got 75 million for Suarez and have bought/about to buy

4.5 million - Lambert
10 million - Can
25 million - Lallana
20 million - Markovic
8.5 million - Remy
10 million - Origi
20 million - Lovren

That takes our spend to 98 million.

We still have Assaidi and Borini to sell and the money for Aspas to come in next season. As it stands at worst we'll have a net spend of zero. Also still think we'll be selling Reina, Lucas and one of Agger/Skrtel. There's at least another 15 million there.

Even if we buy Shaqiri, a marquee 30 million signing and also a back up keeper, our net spend is unlikely to be more than 30 million pounds come the end of the window.

I'd have thought we went into the window with a kitty of at least 50 million after failing to spend in January and having the new tv and champions league money.

This window is huge, it has the chance to set us up for the next 5 seasons.

I was reflecting on that the other day. Suarez's sale pays for at least four of those new signings. One would have expected a kitty of 30-50m in this window anyway which is why I think there's still more to come. I still think there will be another striker in there somewhere.

I'm struggling to understand a lot of it if I'm honest. 100 million spent and we have probably Lallana and Lovren as an improvement on our first 11. A lot of potential there and gambles.

Left back still to come though

But what we have got now, for the first time in a long time, is really great squad depth. Even the players that will be on our bench won't be much below the quality in the first 11, plus we've have some different options for changing it up during a game.

A Griezmann or Reus would be the cherry on top though.

Yup, got some game changers there, but Suarez will be a HUGE hole to fill, you can't put a price on what he brings, creating goals & chances from nothing. We need another world class striker to progress this season.

I think the former is off to Athletico.

True, but I don't think it's gone through yet, so would be great to highjack the move! Good price too.

Definitely need another striker now:

Loic Remy's move to Liverpool is off. It is understood the forward failed a medical. No comment from the club however.
Real shame, would have loved to see him at Anfield!

Last season myself and @GNev2 both had Lovren in our team of 2013, he was as good as anyone until he got injured in the new year.

The Remy deal collapsing gives us a chance to go out and get a superstar striker.

Shame for the lad though, I'm sure his injury will never materialise and he'll go to score 20 league goals for someone. Think everyone of us thought it was good business.

Lambert and Sturridge won't be anywhere near enough.

Feel for Remy. Liverpool had already set aside the No 7 shirt for him and the player had been waiting in the US for deal to be confirmed @bensmithbbc

You have to remember wages too...yes Suarez was on £200k a week but that lot are probably on say an average of £70k a week ? So that's nearly £500k a week in combined wages so that's an extra £15mil a year on the wage bill which probably comes out of the transfer budget. Over the course of say a four year contract that's £60mil. Add's up!
