Interesting interview with Lovren. Reminded me a bit of Sami Hyppia in his prime on Sunday; we could do with that again.

Apparently Suarez was sold for £65m not £75m reported in the media.
Barcelona vice president Jordi Mestre on the signing of Luis Suarez said:
We are confident we have made a great signing and hope for plenty of great football from him over the next five seasons. Negotiations started before the World Cup and we worked hard to come to a final figure of £65m. We were originally quoted over €90m (£72m).

Wouldnt believe everything Barca come out and say... been known to do it many times with transfer fee's....Barcelona vice president Jordi Mestre on the signing of Luis Suarez said:

Not sure why a professional club would want to blatantly lie about the transfer fee paid. Makes no sense. If you don't want to reveal how much you paid, simply say it is undisclosed.
Madrid and Tottenham's figures for Bale also differed. One claiming a world record fee, the other saying it was less than the fee that was paid for Ronaldo. Strange.

Where has he gone these days actually ??
Napoli on loan.Sy - I agree now, actually found another quote from our Chairman stating there had been no bids.
Not sure the £19m release clause is not just paper-talk too. Can't believe we would only add on 50% of the fee we paid for an up and coming striker ages 24...

Perhaps they just want to make it look like they got a far better deal than people thought?
That or because of Fair Play reasons. The Barca figure quoted for Suarez is the only figure anyone has said it to be, the £75m was on only guessed by the papers I thought. Which adds another question, with LFC 99% knowing Barca will be buying, why give him a new contract with a £65-75m clause in it? Surely you'd put it up to £100m and see what can be squeezed out of them... unless pre-agreed.

Refreshing to read the thread with just good decent footy discussion
I didn't want to say anything after the Mod's last post but yes. Only caught up the last 2 days this morning; enjoyed the last 2 pages more.As far as our season goes, I'm still optimistic. As far as our next match goes - I'll be glad to get away from Cit-eh with a draw and move on...
What happened to Lucas?
Obviously took a while to settle when he first arrived and showed tremendous strength of character to become one of the first names on the team sheet. Last year we couldn't wait for him to come back from injury as we really missed him.
A couple of years ago we drew 1-1 at home with City and should have won. I watched him carefully all game and he gave one of the best DM performances I've ever seen - doubly impressive given that he had to shut down Toure and Silva, both of whom were in good form at the time.
We know he can be absolutely terrific but he seems right off the boil now so what's up? Struggling with the formation? Not the same player since knee injury? Just out of form?
A fully fit and in form Lucas would really help this year, particularly in Europe IMO.

Probably a bit of all three.A fully fit and in form Lucas would really help this year, particularly in Europe IMO.
Lucas I think is a bit of a confidence player. It can't be good for him that he seems to be below Henderson in the pecking order and about on par with Allen, if that. I doubt it's helped that he's been in the shop window all summer.
