I thought many of the players last night looked better than their first 11 equivalents.

Loftus-Cheek played far better than any England midfielder for years.

Not off his own back he hasn't, he's simply keeping in line with the English football coaching strategy put in place by Trevor Brooking at the FA a few years ago which is to develop good technical footballers who are comfortable on the ball, play out from the back and keep possession. The ethos is to focus on "creativity not conformity". The FA are percolating this ethos through all levels of football from grass roots coaching upwards and though it's taken a while to take effect its clear to see the benefits starting to bear fruit with the successes of the England youth teams.
Nice to read a positive post about England and the future of the game in this country. Things don't change overnight, but you can definitely see the difference in quality on the ball over the years.

Money... They arent selling enough of that kit......
I thought in international games that the away team got their first kit.

1966?
New away kit on the market perhaps ?

Southgate tried to turn us into a passing side - haha.

I enjoyed the second half - much unlike most recent games. Aside from passing and keeping posession, I'd really like it if some of our lot would attempt to tackle the opposition rather than track back as they approach our goal...

Without Italy in the finals our way is clear to glory...or not.

I heard someone on the radio saying just that, that Italy not being there is good for us as they are one of our main rivals. rofl

Talk about deluded.

Errrr, we got hoofed out of the last tournament by fking Iceland! Sweden, who did for Italy, will beat us no problem if we get them at the WC.

If this were back in the day when they had 'B' teams, this would be the 'B' team.
Was it Chris Sutton that famously refused to play for the B team? Ironic seeing as he went to play in Scotland, a B league!

Brazil may play lovely football but their a bunch of tarts on every challenge that they lose the ball....and the ref buys the acting.

I wish England would stop trying to walk chances in the net these days....nothing wrong with pulling the trigger from the edge of the box once in a while.

Brazil have been in decline since the 1990s and they're no longer a great team. The rest of the world has caught up technically, their creative flair has faded, and the aura is largely gone.

England's defence was excellent. But they still give it away too easily in midfield, there's no genius up front to break apart stubborn opponents, and no star names to scare defenders.

It will be another plucky quarterfinal exit for England in Russia.

They won the competition in 1994, finalists in 1998 and won again in 2002....

They are second in the FIFA rankings, you maniac. Either you are wrong, or you are actually saying football as a whole is in decline.

After those two results, Mourinho must be contemplating managing us.....

TBF that's a hard act to follow!
The '82 side were unbelievable - on a different planet. Zico, Socrates, Falcao etc. Surely the greatest team to never win it?
