Cristiano Ronaldo
Discussion
Ronaldo bagged four last night to make it a record 11 in the Champions League first round stages and extend his gap as the all time highest Champions league scorer.
21 in 20 games so far this season.
It really hurts me to see United play nowadays with the memories of him being there still so fresh.
Perhaps another season at Real and then off to the MLS for him?

I think he was asked that question in his documentary and he said he wouldn't go to the US to finish his career. He thinks he is good enough to finish at the very best level.
Unsure where he will end up but he's playing his best football at Real Madrid, the fans love him, he can't do no wrong and if he did go somewhere else and that team were poor then he'd get some stick.
He wouldn't win the Balon d'or in America, Ligue 1 is poor in comparison to other leagues however PSG do go a long way in the CL every year.
Does he need the money that PSG could offer to sway him to France? I don't think he does.

Was on the Jonathan Ross show that he said he didn't want to retire in the US.

I've no doubt that barring injury Ronaldo can continue at the highest level for another 3 or 4 seasons, not scoring 50 goals a year but still a very influential player.
It's only speculation but I just have this idea of him being the star player in Beckhams Miami MLS franchise when it launches, that would elevate his status still further and could work to push the MLS to a higher level.
Things change of course and I appreciate what he says now, I just feel that an offer like that at age 34 could be packaged in a very appealing way.
For now he remains at Real, talk of returning to the Prem happens regularly but it's daft really as he has been there, done it and has nothing to prove.
Time will tell.

I don't think that legends heading to America does much for the MLS. If they played in the champions league then they would be watched more as they'd have more of an elevated platform.
Gerrard moved to LA Galaxy, a Liverpool legend, yet I don't know many reds that actively watch LA purely because he has gone there. Wether someone in Japan or India does is another thing, maybe they have figures somewhere showing an increase.
Whilst Gerrard, Pirlo, Lampard are all legends of the game they don't play like they used to and they aren't playing against Premier League / Champions league calibre sides. MLS quality is pretty poor.
My view anyway

I say he is the greatest footballer of all time.
I think there are other contenders, Pele, Puskas, Messi, Maradona to name but a few. No doubting he has a special talent, but Messi is a few years younger and has time to catch up on the records. He's also not done enough in a world cup to justify the number 1 spot in my view, but it's subjectiveHe now has an airport named after him. And has his very own bust
