Along with Shearer and Suarez. So a few people hold the record.
Nobody has scored more in a 38 game season. Two others have tied with 31.
Henry
Rooney
Owen
Van Nistleroy
Aguerro
None of those have scored that many.
My post was in regard to saying Ronaldo hadn't delivered in the Premiere League. He clearly did for a number of seasons.

Agreed but La Liga is like Scottish Football with sun.
You clearly don't watch it then. Even Soldado managed to score 81 goals for Valencia in the 3 years prior to joining Spurs!

Another Ballon D'or.
For me he is the best of the best.
The finest to ever have played the game.
To deliver at the highest level in two leagues for that length of time surpasses all others.
Meh. He's not even the best Portuguese player. For me he is the best of the best.

The other Ronaldo did it at a few teams as well, and was no mug in his own right.
It's a ridiculous competition, heavily weighted in favour of the Southern European/Latin teams. Northern European teams barely get a look in.
In the 15 years since 1999 it's been won by a Real Madrid player 6 times and a Barcelona player 5 times. Those 2 clubs have an equally stupid number of 2nd and 3rd placements in those years as well.

Or it could be that those teams buy the best players, who do you suggest should have won it instead of Messi/Ronaldo (who won it whilst at United too) and co?In the 15 years since 1999 it's been won by a Real Madrid player 6 times and a Barcelona player 5 times. Do you? Try this. http://www.espnfc.com/fifa-world-cup/story/2241854...TEKNOPUG said:
You only need to look at the gulf between financial resources. There is over $100m difference in TV revenues between Real and the bottom clubs in La Liga. In the Prem, it's less than $20m from top to bottom. So there is a far greater gulf between the tops teams and the rest, leading to far more goals being scored by players in the better teams.
Even Soldado managed to score 81 goals for Valencia in the 3 years prior to joining Spurs!
I imagine that the difference in financial terms between Man City and Burnley, is still rather significant! Even Soldado managed to score 81 goals for Valencia in the 3 years prior to joining Spurs!

The difference is £30mil now in the PL....£90m vs £60mil. But yes your point is correct the financial gulf in the Spain is the top two and then everyone else. In the PL it's a bit more gradual!Even Soldado managed to score 81 goals for Valencia in the 3 years prior to joining Spurs!

Possibly. But the bottom 5 teams in the Prem each had in excess of £62m of TV money to spend on player transfers and wages. Compared to just £14m for each of the bottom 5 in La Liga. In fact Real and Barca both received more than 3 times the amount of TV money than third placed Valencia. The ratio between Liverpool (top earners) and Cardiff (bottom) is 1.57/1. In La Liga it's 11.3/1!So Burnley may well be disadvantaged compared to Citeh but not half as much as all the other teams in La Liga are to Real & Barca.

7 of those 11 were won by Ronaldo and Messi. The others by Ronaldinho, Cannavaro, Ronaldo and Figo. Not like Guti picked up a couple and Bojan. In the 15 years since 1999 it's been won by a Real Madrid player 6 times and a Barcelona player 5 times. But, back on topic. Ronaldo, in my opinion, is the best i've seen. He's been in top, top form now for about 8/9 years! People say about La Liga being not too strong. Well, look at his record vs Barcelona!! Not to mention how many he got in the Champions League last season, including a few against Bayern, who have a mean defence and won it the previous season.
He also scored for fun in the Premier League from about 2006 until he left.
