I wanted to start a thread where we can celebrate our own/children's achievements in grassroots football. smile

I coach my son's Under 9's team in the North Western Timperley & District league and earlier this season we won a small 4 team competition which our league call the "Autumn Euro". It is to help the league towards finding the correct level for the teams moving forward into older age groups so they are better matched with opponents. We are currently competing in the "Spring Euro" competition against 5 other teams in our group. We currently stand, with a game in hand, in second place a point behind the leaders who we play on Saturday! The top two will play a one off final at Trafford FC's ground, who are our local team that play at a semi-professional level, with covered stands and everything! smile The exciting bit though is last night I realised that our team, the "Falcons" are currently the highest scoring team across all age groups in the Timperley & District League! Thats 414 teams! We've plundered 124 goals so far this season at an average of 8.27 per game!!. If you want entertainment come and watch us!! hehe

So let's hear about your achievements both individually and collectively.

Good stuff. Although not so good for the other teams. Are you at 5 or seven a side level? It may be better for the player development if they could play tighter games. Either by getting better opposition or by players turning out in unfamiliar roles eg play the top striker as a defender. Keep the kids challenged. Are you the coach?

Yes I'm the coach. I did say that in my opening post. smile

So we told the league about our standard before the earlier comp but the league put teams into a group to get fixtures on the board. There is sooo much admin. I do sympathise totally. After we won our first comp we've been matched against 3 teams that I would say are to our standard and 2 that probably aren't. I played none of my favoured goalkeepers in goal on Saturday and played my strikers in defence. We won 7-1.
I rotate the players a lot in different positions. No matter what I do they keep scoring!! The football will get harder but for now I'm just enjoying the fact we've scored more goals than anyone else as across 414 teams I'd say thats quite something. smile
