I’ve never quite understood why Maxim hasn’t been subject to sanctions (or maybe he has). It seems to go under the radar that we have a Russian owner. Does he hold a UK passport these days ?
Yes he has a UK passport. I think we all accept he's not exactly an oligarch. That said most of his money appears to have come from a mixture of banking and petrochemicals. There's a very recent thread here where some have attempted to unravel whats behind Max and how he made his money. However its hardly substantive and the guy seems to remain an enigma (well his missus does for that alleged half time talk ;_)

Just home, what a brilliant day. That was one of the best all round displays I've seen since Parker's been in charge. Moore was immense, what a unit he is. Great display from Pearson, none of us expected that line up or him to feature. Tavernier, what an inspired signing and debut. Disappointed with Villa, loads of sideways possession but absolutely nothing up front.

Great result. Thanks for the review. Just away to listen to the Back of The Net AFCB Podcast review. Anyone else subscribe ? Usually very fair and balanced. After a win on the first day of the season, but a couple of batterings since, AFCB have parted company with Scott Parker this morning… obviously more to this one than meets the eye, don’t think Parker was happy with the recruitment and can’t say I disagree, so who do we recon will be next…?

I think he got the push for that post match interview more than anything else. They have signed a couple of players, but looking at the squad I there must be only a handful of players who played in the prem before. When you look at Forest signing 19 players, Parker might have hoped the owner would put his hand in his pocket.
Fair play for getting us promoted last season but some of the football was absolutely dire, that aside he did what was asked.
Without doubt he's been sacked for his constant criticism of the board lately (even before the season started) and the inability to take any sort of personal responsibility for the last three performances . Although we accepted we would struggle, we completely capitulated against Arsenal and Liverpool. He was supported in January when we hoovered up everyone we could to make promotion possible, then argues some of the new signings weren't in his long term plans anyway and starts offloading them. We've made some decent signings in the summer as well but clearly not enough for him and the window's still open.
His comments lately have been totally unacceptable, christ knows how the players must have felt, belittled and undervalued probably . A large amount of the fan base had totally turned on the guy in the last week or so especially after the Liverpool game and his comments, trust me no ones's shedding a tear.
The owners statement is quite telling.

“However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a Club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another. That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”
'BELIEF AND RESPECT FOR ON ANOTHER' - something clearly lacking with our dear departed Scotty.

Fulham fan in peace. I've never understood the way the media love Parker - they've clearly never been subjected to the turgid brand of football he insists on playing. He takes squads capable of blowing everyone away and makes them look just about better than everyone else - at a Championship level obviously, prem will always be tough.
The 9-0 won't have helped but his comments about a set-up that he clearly would have known were unacceptable. If I owned a business and the manager spoke about staff/me in that manner I'd do the same - especially if the company was remarkably successful for its size.
Although I'd be happy with 3 teams worse than Fulham this year, I'm now not so passionate about one of them being Bournemouth. Best of luck for the season.

Sustainable?
Remind me how much clubs get for promotion? I seem to remember reading £170-200m if they get rlegated again and more if they stay up, without ticket price rises and a sold out stadium for every home game?
I assume the owners are just happy to pocket that and take their chances with the current squad having invested about 10% of it on new players?

I agree. Has always struck me as one of those managers that might get you out of the Championship, but you'd be going down the next season.I like Bournemouth - an ex-colleague was a fan when they were first promoted to the Prem and I've kept an eye on them since. But I think they are going to struggle this season.
Time to call Big Sam already?
