Our ambition is to win the Premier League and other major trophies in Europe. It’s what the fans, players, staff, manager and board expect and we won’t rest until that is achieved. Arsene is the best person to help us make that happen. He has a fantastic track record and has our full backing.
BBC journo David Ornstein is definitely a moth piece of the club...if you follow his Twitter feed he tends to only ever say things that come true i.e. they've been leaked by the club.
He was interviewed on the Arseblog's Arsecast podcast yesterday and it made interesting listening...
- Board was split on Wenger getting a new contract
- Some members of the board want Usmanov more involved with the club
- Wenger doesn't car that some board members don't back him
- Usmanov's offer was apparently much bigger than was leaked
Club is very aware that things have to change and that this is Wenger's hardest ever summer...announcement are expected about organisational changes.
Ian Wright was also interviewed and was really good value. Dropped the F bomb a couple of times
Ornstein thinks Arsenal have the highest wage bill outside the Champions League which I am sure is true and damning. There's a ton of dead wood when you think about it.
The only hope of keeping Ozil and Alexis is signing some huge players I reckon.

All sounds plausible and reasonable in my opinion. But it will depend on Stan and the amount of cash he will allow the club to spend. (MBappe wont happen, love to be wrong, but.....) if this summer goes badly, then there are 2 years to boycott! He was interviewed on the Arseblog's Arsecast podcast yesterday and it made interesting listening...

Stan must clearly think his shares will be worth more in the long term than was offered, so id hanging on.
If the board really was split on AW staying, and indeed over Usmanov's involvement, which we know is at odds to Stan's wishes.....then the next 2 years could well be interesting.
From the Stan out aspect, plus getting the club structure in place for the future, the next two years would be the chance to restructure, forget PL titles, forget CL and even EL comps, and clear out the dead wood, and build for the future.
That should see a reduction in Stan's income, maybe enough to see him sell up, and we can get back to being a football club again.
I'm sure however, that won't be how it happens.

Arseblog reporting L'equipe saying weve bid £100m for Mbappe. I see a large pink flying object somewhere over north London
Quite. But then it's the start of that time of year. For the next three or so months we are going to read ste like this every week, only to end up buying some Elneny/Xhaka class misfit 18 hours before the transfer window closes. Chuck328 said:

Wenger is a good negotiator, if nothing else. His annual salary has risen from £0.5m in 1996 to £8m in 2017.

He's got nothing on Levy....Sir Alan Sugar was on the radio talking about football wages etc When he left Spurs 20 years ago the top player salary was £40k a week....today it's £100k. How Levy keeps that down is incredible. That's good negotiating....http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/811632/Ars...

Henry Chukwuemeka Onyekuru at £6.8m is much more Wenger's buy, and it should keep Giroud and Sanogo on their toes.
When I saw that name I thought you were on a piss take. Then I googled ( just to see mind..) fk me, not a bad strike rate for a 19yr old in the lower leagues. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
