What's the preferable option among Arsenal fans should Sanchez refuse to sign another contract? Sell him to City or Chelsea for £~50m or let him run down his contract and get another season out of him (at the expense of that transfer fee). It appears Wenger wants to sell him to a non English club but there are no buyers around (the wages being demanded don't help this).
Arsenal are the kings of the one-year-to-go contract saga. This one has plenty of legs.

For me, let him see out the remaining year of his contract. He loves playing football above all else and so I can't see him failing to put the effort in on the pitch. Even in the unlikely event he does only put in 50% of the application he did last season, 50% in an Arsenal shirt has got to be preferable to 100% in the shirt of a competitor. With the wealth available to the Premier League clubs now, the transfer fee he would raise (with only one club willing to pay his wages) would be relatively small fry, and would not be enough for Arsenal to sign a ready-made replacement proven to score the goals in the Premier League like he has done. That's without considering the fact a direct rival would also be benefiting from his goals so Arsenal would in theory require someone at least as good just to effectively 'stand still' relative to them.
So I say keep him for his last season, let him walk for free this time next year when he'll be pushing 30 and hopefully Arsenal will have already got the best from him. That way there is also the (admittedly unlikely) possibility that he decides to extend his contract part way through the season- particularly if he strikes up a great partnership with Lacazette, and the club has a very good season...
Selling him now would not be a million miles away from the Van Persie situation, and frankly the club needs to make the statement that this kind of thing will not happen anymore.
West Brom showed with Berahino that the days of players being able to hold clubs to ransom are over (the clubs just have too much money now), and selling Sanchez would do far more damage than the money would compensate for.
All of the players Arsenal have been realistically linked with (Mbappe aside) are easily affordable without selling Sanchez, so why give him to a rival just to stick an extra £50mil in an already very healthy bank? I appreciate that is essentially a rhetorical question in the context of Arsenal FC!

This one sentence ( well said Squirrel) sums it up perfectly in an already good post. Couldn't agree more.To add, if this club wants to be be at least seen a force in football, I'd say it's imperative that he stays. It would be too easy to cash in (to a foreign or domestic rival) but that just sends the wrong message. The money shouldn't be needed and who knows, he might just stay.

Surely if he doesn't sign a contract now they have to sell him and avoid him leaving for nothing next summer?
Outdated view given the money the Prem clubs now have. See West Brom's treatment of Berahino...As per my post above - I just can't see why you would sell him for £50mil when the club don't need the money? Let him play another season, get the benefit of him for another season, then let him go for nothing when he is pushing 30 years old.
Different if he was going abroad, but selling him to a direct rival would be lunacy. Who knows, another 12 months down the line and he may have other offers from abroad?
Put it this way- surely the benefit of his goals for another season, whilst denying a direct rival getting the benefit of those goals, is worth more than what either of the Manchester clubs would pay Arsenal? Who could we buy for that money that we can't already afford?

Exactly. If I was Arsenal I would be hoping you play some blistering football this season, win the league or Europa or both and convince him to sign a new contract at some stage.
Call me delusional, but it looks like it might happen. If we hang onto Giroud as a plan B (obviously with Sanchez and Ozil) - then add another sigining (Lemar..or dare I say it Mbappe)...............I might renew the sky sub! jammy-git said:
Well, I'm not sure. I think the problems at your club/in your squad go deeper than just new signings, but who knows! Get a good start to the season and some confidence going and anything can happen.
Absolutely and Arsenal's problems were more Central Midfield and Defence and how the team as a whole defended than anything else. That and the utter mind fk that was the February to April period.Cazorla's career seems to sadly be pretty much over/he's not playing next season and it seems despite notionally having good strength in depth we actually only have one functional midfield pairing in Ramsey and Xhaka (we're talking CM's capable of beating top teams)...and they only work with the back three.
So we need at least one other CM...I've seen stories Wenger likes Lemar potentially as a CM.
Still the one development I absolutely love is Mad Jens coming back to the club....if there's anyone who is capable of upsetting the apple cart it's him.
Stories are that the board as a whole voted again Wenger getting the new contract and it was only Kronke who saved him...I don't think Lehman is Wenger's doing so it could be interesting!
So a couple of what look like very good signings but a st load to do.
Arsenal have not had a season in the Premier League where the wheels haven't come off in some style for ten years or more.
