Cech: i know he got badly injured, but IMO any goalie that needs to wear a crash hat on the pitch shouldn't be playing. It just tells the opposition he is scared, can't get stuck in, and cannot command his area. We should never have bought him.

£20 million for Walnut.
I can't decide if Everton are that desperate or if it's a genius bit of business by Arsenal.
fk me, I was getting close to being happy to PAY 20 mill to get rid FFS.
As ever it'll depend on how well Walcott does after Arsenal.I can't decide if Everton are that desperate or if it's a genius bit of business by Arsenal.

I'm not knocking him, don't get touchy I like Ox and would be good to see him do well. As I said, over a season, not a few games, yes he's looked good so far but he's looked good for us many times and then faded away.
ox looked and absolute beast when he first signed him, taking on players, beating them. remember Ac Milan?Sadly it was coached out of him. he will come very good again eventually.

..not sure what you have been watching
I'll hazard a guess at not your team. the myth of arsenal being a good team to watch should have been exercised years ago. Liverpool and even Sperz are far more exciting.
BTW folks apologies for my rants. just a bit of background, i dont care anymore i find it funny and just laugh at our results, often only finding out about them in the next days papers, but still get angry at those who think everything is fine at the club. i havent been in 5 years but my bro and i still retain 2 season tickets that have been in the family for years since my old fella was a bondholder in the new northbank. Football wasnt a major part of my life, but i did go to most home games as a kid, but stopped about 10 years ago when i started working after i left uni, as travelling to London for football on a weekend was not my idea of fun when id spent all week commuting up for work.
retaining the tickets is part of the problem i admit that, as we should vote with our wallets and deprive stan of the cash (not that it would mean much, as someone else would pay it), but the seats are pretty good (not as good as our highbury seats), and we want them in the family for when AW finally f's off.

Wonder why we are not in for Lucas Mora. Would have thought he would be a better replacement than either Miki or Abu (cant be bothered spell checking either name)
Surely Mahrez ahead of him? In fact why not both, given that Ozil is crap/leaving?

my hunch is wally, is a brainless, meek, unabmbitious manboy with no talent (for PL footballer) just pace. however AW is not blameless and under the right tutelage he could have been a lot better than he was for us, wonder if fat sam can improve him.
He changed, about the time he decided to swap shirt numbers and took on 14. He also made a bit of noise about playing as a striker. My suspicion is that he had hypnotherapy to help him and in his own mind become the player he thought he could/should be. Whether he did or not, he since runs about looking so serious. He has that, post-stag weekend in Amsterdam look about him, as if he ended up doing the strongest mushrooms and just never came back from the trip. Glassman said:

Bit harsh on a player who was brutally betrayed publically by a succession of England mangers(amazed his confidence isn't shredded to pieces) .Got slagged off for big wages - i don't recall TW holding gun to Arsenal's head.In fact he wanted to leave , and Arsenal gave him wage increase and then decided generally not to play him.Wenger effed him about and wasted TW time and Arsenal's money.
Maybe so. I'll credit him for his 100 goals for Arsenal but overall, he's not very good.Classic little dig at AW by BD sporting director..........ouch
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was "disrespectful" by talking publicly about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, say Borussia Dortmund.
The Gunners are interested in signing the £60m-rated Gabon forward, who has been left out of his side's trip to Hertha Berlin on Friday night.
On Thursday, Wenger said Aubameyang would "fit in" at Arsenal.
"We regard it as disrespectful that Arsene Wenger expresses himself about players of other clubs," said the club.
Sporting director Michael Zorc added: "There is no contact on our part with Arsenal. Arsene Wenger certainly has enough currently to deal with the performance of his own players."
Zorc added that Aubameyang would miss the Friday's game because "he is not fully focused and the question arises whether he can help us in Berlin."
Aubameyang has been suspended twice for disciplinary reasons this season.
He missed Sunday's 0-0 draw with Wolfsburg after he failed to attend a team meeting.
Still think Aubameyang is a loose cannon, that I don't think AW is capable of dealing with, given previous player issues at the club. With his strike rate, there should be way more interest by other big clubs and there just isn't.

Can you elaborate!? hes been dire since we signed him.
Playing behind a back three / four without any semblance of organisation for 90% of the time makes it difficult for any goalkeeper to really excel. Cech however has proven his class repeatedly. Backed up by stats: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/07/25/expected-goals-xg-does-show-man-city-should-win-premier-league/
So it seems like Sanchex/Mkhitarayan is pretty much a done deal and the latter is going to be reunited with Aubameyang. We've heard for years that you can't get deals done in January but obviously you can. Regardless of where you are on Sanchez leaving at least things are being done to replace him (only if they're reactive).
I suspect if our new Chief Scout and the new "Director Of Football" who is about to join weren't part of the club these deals wouldn't have been done.
If you think these deals were necessary to get Ozil to sign a contract (which I am sure they are) they're actually pretty good value vs Ozil leaving on a free in the summer. Clutching at straws I know....
Still regardless of who is up top it won't stop us conceeding soft/st goals like the two we did against Bournemouth.
I'm convinced this is Wenger's last season as for years he's been 100% against a Director of Football so I very much doubt the new guy from Barcelona would be joining unless he knew Wenger was going.

The fire fighting of Alexis situation going on is one thing, but everyone seems to be forgetting we can't defend for fooey, no mention of who's coming in as replacement for Coq who I don't think we should have got rid of, and Xhaka who is worse than useless. Koscielny seems to be suffering more with his ongoing fitness issues and Holding & Chambers are way off champions league standard (along with most others at the moment) plus Mustafi who apparently nearly left in the summer? I don't remember Arsenal ever being in such a mess even pre Wenger.

With regards to doing deals in Jan, it really depends on the circumstances. None of the big clubs did any deals last year in Jan. This year the transfer of Sanchez has set off a chain of other transfers. Even then, only players that clubs have wanted to offload have moved.
Coutinho?? we did not 'want' to sell him, we were forced to sell him Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
