Good news....we've got two top class strikers up top who both scored very good goals yesterday.
Bad news is the defence and midfield are leaning a new system and Emery is working out who works and who doesn't work in this system. I've read/heard on podcasts that Leno is much better with his feet than Cech but not as good a shot stopper (kind of essential)...so my guess is he's being worked bloody hard in training and we'll see him in Cup comps until he's good enough between the sticks.
I'm all for Emery sticking with it...look at Guardiola's first year at City, Klopp at Anfield or Poch at Spuds. It takes time partly because it's a very different way of playing and partly because some of these players just aren't right for the system. We just don't have the pace and power to play this system. Funny how you can see The Ox working so well in a pressing team.
It'll be interesting to see who gets shown the door.

For a decade or more the Arsenal defence has been crap, Chelsea thought Cech was past his best 5 years ago and Arsenal are behaving like cash strapped Championship team who have no choice but to stick with the status quo.
The fans wouldn't let the board get away with it at another top tier team especially Liverpool.

Gazidis is away.
"Arsenal have announced that Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham will lead the club following a decision by chief executive Ivan Gazidis to join Milan.
A statement on Arsenal’s website on Tuesday confirmed the 54-year-old will begin his role in Italy on 1 December, with Vinai Venkatesham set to assume a new role as managing director."

Gazidis statement is irritating, it reads like he's selflessly left the club to allow change and growth. "Arsenal have announced that Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham will lead the club following a decision by chief executive Ivan Gazidis to join Milan.

Not surprised it was half empty, Vorskla who? They were st, we were slightly less st first half was painful viewing, second half much better. Starting to see the results of Emery’s changes now, in our style of play but we still can’t defend even against this level of opposition, giving away two stupid goals once we thought we’d won it . Positives, Aubemyang starting to look really sharp. Ozil actually smiling and appearing to be enjoying playing! Guendouzi is definitely a find and Sokratis starting to show some form, Torreira looking good also.

Any improvement in the club's fortunes this season certainly isn't going come from grinding out 1-0 wins is it.
It's fortunate that we are pretty spoiled for choice at the other end- I was hoping we'd be seeing more of Nketiah this season but it's looking like a pretty long queue at the moment.
I also thought Holding looked pretty composed last night, I'd be tempted to bring him in ahead of Mustafi at the weekend. Sokratis actually looked vaguely like the centre-half I thought we'd signed, without a walking calamity playing alongside him... Accepting the limitations last night's opposition of course!

Ramsay doesn't seem happy and the club has called his bluff. Everton or West Ham beckon?

Not sure how to feel about this one, he’s fought his way back to fitness after that horrific injury caused by the clogger Shawcross. I think he was probably our best player last season but not sure he really fits in with what Emery is doing ongoing, he’s looked a bit out of sorts when played this year, if he wants to go somewhere in Europe then fine, let him go, he’s always given his best and you never hear of him causing any trouble. Don’t want to see him going to strengthen another premiership club though.

Completely agree with the bold bit. It's something we really have to stop doing, Sanchez to Utd and Giroud to Chelsea just in the past year, let alone all the famous previous examples. I find it interesting that it was reported the club offered something, then withdrew it as 'they were no longer in a position to offer that contract'. I wonder what that's all about? Trying to cut the wage bill? Anticipating further spending to get the players Emery wants?

That's gone so well for him though....... (other than pleasing his bank manager of course)

The offer was tabled a while ago though wasn't it, so likely with Gazidis involvement, so maybe with him now gone, the 'new regime' weren't happy with what had been tabled and have thus withdrawn the offer, given that Ramsey was seemingly dragging his heels..?I wonder if Ramsey is now sitting there wishing he'd signed it a few months ago...?
