I'd love Liverpool to go for him, have a feeling he would flourish like Ox under Klopp

I'm happy with that half. Shows how far we have come from the City and Chelsea games.

Absolutely.

I still expect us to lose I think, but we're putting in a good showing so far. If we can continue this and get a draw or just a 1-0 defeat, I'd be pretty happy.

Of course... We might win yikes

Even if we lose now, I'm happy with this performance. We've gone toe to toe with one of the favourites for the league, I'm not sure we can ask for much more than that given how new Emery is.

Good game guys! Both teams going at each other trying to win it. I think a point each was fair. Can definitely see you guys getting top four and probably being in the title fight.

Much improved.
At least it seems when we play a top team we're in with a chance rather than a foregone conclusion now. Pity it took 10 years to realise the previous manager was past his sell by date.

Just back from the game, that’s best I’ve seen us play against a big team for some time and the first time I’ve been up to the stadium under Emery. Much much better atmosphere and overall a good display, some cahoonas finally being installed in the team at long last...

Good game earlier.

After last season and the first two games this season the expectations weren't so high.

The pressure is off for a while.

I went to the Leicester game last week and agree on the atmosphere....even before the game the atmosphere was so much better than it has been for a long time.

Great game yesterday this team has come further than I think most of us thought possible in this timeframe...and really the only difference in personnel is Torreira but what a difference he is. Xhaka looks a totally different player next to him. It’s obviously about a lot more than that though. Think about where Klopp was this far isn’t his AnfIeld career or where Utd were 15 games after Fergie quit. Interesting times.

Surprised nothing has been mentioned of the recent Ramsey developments on here. Seems he is headed out the door.

I think this is to do with the youth talent coming in behind him (Nelson, Smith-Rowe, Maitland-Niles)and the amount of money he was demanding, but I also feel he isnt being player in his best position, or being allowed to run forward as is his natural game.
I think the club just feel they can get better value elsewhere. If our scouting team is as good as everyone says, they should be able to get better value. Look at Torreira - 26m and probably on a fraction of Ramsey's new wage demands. (I've just looked it up - he's on £50k/week if you believe the press)

I'm not disappointed with the club for not offering a new contract, he's a great player, but not world class, but I am disappointed with them that he goes on a free, that's just poor business.

Just picking up on that point. Xhaka has become a different player in the last few months and if you now look at his stats in the premier league he is top 5 most passes this season.

If you look at the pages above he was highlighted as a player who should move on... What's the thinking now?

I think bringing in Torreira and to a lesser extent Guendouzi have both had a significant affect on his game, allowing Xhaka to become a more effective player.

[quote=Allyc85]Hopefully he turns into another Sanchez if he goes to Man-Ure! What a great bit of business that ended up being!

I am happy the 400k a week is setting the precedent for other players wage demands as well. snigger.

Really pleased with Saturdays performance. All I've wanted for a long time is an Arsenal team that looks respectable and competitive. and it seems we've got it.

Xhaka does generally play well, but his mistakes are always so massively costly. Sticking his leg out like he did against Palace was always going to result in a penalty, and he does give the ball away in silly positions.

Xhaka’s passing ability in the final third has never been in doubt (his stats for that are up there with the best in the division)...he just looks so much more confident both on and off the ball in “our half”than he used to. I think a lot of that is confidence and not being asked to do a job he was ill equipped to do,...i.e. be our sole holding midfielder whilst Ramsey was off chasing goals.

That’s why Ramsey is going I think,,.he’s a great “box to box” midfielder but spends too much time in the final third if you’re playing a two man midfield. So we either have to change the system or he doesn’t really fit. Changing the system to say 4-3-3 would mean Ozil looking less like a starter which doesn’t work whe he’s on the money he’s on.
