If Xhaka is the answer the manager is a fool and on that one huge issue shows he’s not the right man for the job. I don’t think this is an unfair assumption as very gooner or neutral I know can see Xhaka is not just crap but an actual severe handicap and detriment to the side. Yet dick made him captain.
This is still my big question mark over UE after he did this. There's one thing being saddled with him as a squad player for whatever reason (no one else wants him!) but making him Captain, just left me shaking my head in disbelief.
But........is it UE's decision as coach to appoint the captain, or was that a decision made from higher up?
The trouble is, decent old fashioned, inspirational type, on the pitch leaders are few and far between these days.
He hasn't been appointed captain has he?
If anything Emery has made clear he doesn't want him in the team as he literally has avoided appointing him as club captain and seems to be working him out of the starting XI. The fact is that Xhaka has been an integral part of the way Arsenal play in the last couple of years, and we all know he has his shortcomings which he hasn't been able work on. I suspect if we didn't have so many other changes to make to the squad, as well as the Koscielny situation, then he'd have been got rid of. We are where we are, and injuries dependent, I can't see him being a starter come November latest.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Roma set to sign Arsenal midfielder on loan
Miki always struck me a decent fella. Such a shame he couldnt replicate the DvD form in England.Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Roma set to sign Arsenal midfielder on loan
But I do think he will do very well at Roma, he just needs som steady game time to get the confidence back.

Yes he wasn't alert but where was our right back? And the supporting midfield? Remember there were three defence-minded midfielders in front of the defence; why 'slate' Sokratis for his mistake? It's a team effort and right now, he's our strongest defender in a weak back line.
We can all agree that we could do with better players than Mustafi, Mkhitaryan and Xhaka but what good does slating players do?
Wasn't AMN covering for Sokratis who was out of position with Kola up the park? As for the midfield tracking back......We can all agree that we could do with better players than Mustafi, Mkhitaryan and Xhaka but what good does slating players do?
The initial mistake that ultimately led to the goal was by Sokratis with missing the header but he also had the chance to redeem himself by being more aware as to where Erikson was.

I was prepared to give him 2 seasons.........
I am not trolling here but am genuinely curious as to do what?1. To get us into the CL?
2. To challenge for the title?
3. To improve?
4. All of the above?
I initially agreed on the 2 seasons bit and it is good that the club have backed UE this season with the signings but given the transition in squad and first 11 (referencing FA Cup final starting 11 in 2017 versus team at the weekend) and the further transition that will be required in the run up to Christmas with Holding, Bellerin and Tierney to be included and i am assuming that all three will be in the first choice starting 11 i'm not sure how easy it'll be to judge him this season.
I rightly think that we should expect an improvement this season but fear that it might not be until the second half of the season which isn't always our stronger part so i'm already thinking that he'll need another after this if it is largely status quo with us finishing 5th or thereabouts/outside CL.
Whilst we should've made top 4 last season, largely thanks to the ability of Laca and Auba which we will rely on heavily again this season, it would've been beyond most peoples genuine expectations had we done so. Given that maybe Chelski and Manure *might* not be quite as "good" as they were last season we may get lucky and if we have a half decent season make it this year. That is not without thinking that LCFC won't go the distance for top 4 too though.
I honestly think it'll take longer than most people believe to get us out of the utter mess that Gazidis and Wenger left us in and that will include getting shot of the likes of Xhaka, Mustafi and likely Ozil too. Jeeeez.....on a separate note Ozil has been the biggest disappointment to me in an Arsenal shirt i can remember.
You are trolling with your top 2 but who’s not guilty of that especially when stuck at the airport cos the French’s ATC ‘mysteriously’ went down in their strike season on the busiest travel day in months.
Improvement. A style of play. Ceasing of braindead team selections of players who everyone can see are a massive liability.
Xhaka starts and Mikhi on as sub (when he’s a leaving and b never influenced a game positively in years) are examples of the latter.
The first is massively debatable. Everyone, myself included said our weak areas could be improved by a non wenger actually coaching some of the existing players. Well that’s not happened. Same naive defending mistakes etc. Style of play is another, I see none it’s chopped and changed every game. Most players look lost. Rigid sticking to in game tactics when it’s clealry not working. Eg passing from the back against Burnley.
Also no sign of improvement in our constant slow starts in first half. Problem all last season a problem this season.
The biggest for me is the Xhaka situation.

What utter twaddle.
Pretty sure Chrissie Twaddle wouldn’t want to manage us, although he could talk perms with Luiz & GendoIn other obvious news:

a myth
bks its a mythhes natural thought process is to stop them rather than go at them - Pep/Klopp minimise space but when they go at a team they will attack with numbers, he does not, I remember him coming to Anfield i was at the game, he has a line of 6 at the back and 3 in front, his whole thought process was just to try to stop us scoring and nick 1 from a set piece. I can honestly say I am yet to see Klopp or Pep ever set up like that no matter who they are playing.
