I think that is a view held by many. You could almost seem Bould squirm watching some of the defensive howlers under AW in those last few years, which probably indicated that it was AW coaching and in his midfield and attack mind at the expense of defence.
I did read that Bould wasn't the defensive coach under Wenger, I don't know if I'm being honest exactly what the assistant manager role entails or whether Arsenal actually have a defensive coach?

uncle tarnished his reputation with a lot of gooners by seemingly sitting idly by why wenger messed things up.

if he was being allowed an influence, it was crap. if he wasnt then he should have resigned in protest or said as such. thats what many think.

i dont.

its interesting how this season we are even worse defensively (maybe down to luiz) since he was 'demoted' to the u23's and freddie stepped up. id rather have bould as caretaker than freddie as freddie just doesn't strike me as the right man for this situation. plus hes part of it all season.

I really think you could do a lot worse than Rafa on a two year contract. He is an excellent coach and will instill proper discipline and structure to your back line and DMF, he is not as negative as some make out, he just starts his work at the back and builds a solid foundation. You have enough attacking flair anyway with Lacayang.

Looking from the outside it now looks as if Wenger was holding the thing together not “messing it up” wink

a loose definition of holding it together! did dick not achieve more in one season then wenger did in the last with his own team?

Or you could look at it that alllowing Wenger to be looking after the entire football hierachy at the club was wholy negligent by the board.

Not a bad call here.

May not be perfect, but for what we need right now I think he is the best fit.

No it was his low point and still the new boy couldn’t improve the team performances.
I don’t think Arsenal and ManU are getting worse it’s just others are getting better.

but he did initially. and probably - wrong man, wrong time.

arsenal for those of us who foolishly part with our money year on year, be it in person or by proxy can definitely say we have got considerably worse since 2008ish.

id say the league did get better until about 5 years ago. chelsea, arsenal and untied went to hell in the subsequent years along those who simply stayed still or made small improvements take advantage and seem like world beaters.

the sad state of the league now shows how bad it is apart from liverpool and city. theres a fag paper separating most of the league. this is the worst i have seen arseneal yet we are 7th and not a distance off top 4. the league is crap. but then the standards of european football as a whole apart from a couple of sides has been in a malaise for the past few years. witness the struggles at real, bayern, barca and the fall of the traditional big itlalian clubs bar juve. (until this season). look how easily enaglnd, with a moderate group of players, got to the WC SF, and then as soon as they played a decent (not great) side got schooled.

Actually we may have been worse in the mid 90s but despite attending lot of games I was too young to really remember much of the performances other than the glorious cup runs

We were'nt too bad back then.
I dodged a bullet by not going to the FA Cup Final against Sheffield Wednesday, I got offered a ticket but couldn't make it and it was an even worse bore than other cup finals. I got tickets for the Arsenal v Cambridge United game that was better, we scraped it 2-1. Must admit football matches then seemed a different world to what they are today, not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

So then, looking at the table this morning, how do we feel our '6 pointer relegation clash' will go tonight then......... whistle

Tell Luiz to stay at home and we might have a better chance of a good result.
