Xhaka when played with Torriera works, without him as we saw last night, doesn’t. As usual it’s all about getting a team with balance. There first half we looked like we had no midfield and that was why Leeds were just running through us like we didn’t exist.
For the first few minutes of the game I thought Sokratis looked lost on the right side of a three man defence... then I realised he was our right-back.

Hateful club, hateful fans, by and large. There is no place for dirty Leeds in modern football.
Yeah let's just use the behaviour of a small group to tar the whole club and support with the same brush. This coming from a club that has the delights of Arsenal TV. I'll assume all Arsenal fans carry on the same way then shall I? Oh no that's right I know they don't.

That wasn't my point was it? Not excusing the thugs at all but don't tar all Leeds fans with it! I was just saying that all clubs have their dheads.

Not even half time yet, but Leeds have had 15 shots at goal, 5 on target.

Of course not all fans are dheads. I don't know what the attendance was last night but there looked to be a good 10,000 of 'em. That's a large number to represent a club at an away game. And if when the chanted something it sounded like all of them, certainly looked like all of them were with their hands up in unison as they abused anyone they could think of.

I thought it was quite funny when they chanted 'Soft Southern Bastid' to Lacazette who's from France (and Guadeloupean origin).

Strong rumours

Boateng -Bayern
Ziyech - Ajax
Worrall - Forest

Thoughts ?
Boateng - 250k per week for a centre-back who is not a first team regular feels a bit steep, better than what we have but for what gain? league position? squad depth?

Ziyech - Would be a class signing and would fit straight into the first team, fair market value is £45m. Someone would need to raid their piggy bank.

Worrall - A no brainer but can’t see forest letting him go until the Summer.

Is Boateng better than what we have though? If he is an upgrade at all, then it definitely isn't enough of one to warrant the wages he would be on.

Rob Holding looked so, so rusty the other night. I honestly think this season is a write off for him in terms of being back where he was before the injury. Such a shame as there is a good defender in there. Hopefully he'll get back to where he was. And it'll be a similar story with Chambers I would imagine.

Realistically, we are looking at Papa and Luiz this season. Hopefully their upturn in form isn't just a new manager reaction.

Long term injuries have a massive impact on players....it really seems like it’s a six to twelve month period before they get back to anything like full potential. I remember Wenger saying it was something like a year before you really see a player back to their level. Bellerin also looked very rusty,

I dunno about that red. It wasn't nice, but Auba wasn't exactly flying into that tackle.

50:50 for me, watching it live it just looked like a standard yellow. Watching the replay, it was above the boot on a 'standing' leg so looked a lot worse and more dangerous.
Had the challenge been exactly the same but on a non standing leg, I think they would have stuck with the yellow.

I can see why it was red, but again was it that clear and obvious that it needed escalated from the ref's decision of a yellow?

Red all day long, not even a discussion imo.

It's a clear and obvious error to give a yellow for that.

More concerning was Torreira going off at half time, we were crap after that. If we’d have played the first 30 mins with more intensity we could have been out of sight. Still at least we didn’t lose... yangs red was a horrible tackle but think he just mistimed it, he’s not a dirty player.

Can't argue with the red. While just late and unintentional, it could quite easily have led to a bad injury. What you can argue with his how poor the refereeing has been in our last few games, both for and against us. Ayew commits 7 fouls without a booking, but Lacazette gets 1 after 3.

We started the game well, but after half an hour we let Palace into it, and didn't look that convincing. Lots of work for Arteta to do!

Yup Torreira going off made a massive difference...I was out with my son today so was watching the game via the BT Sport App..didn’t like what I was seeing so went to put on a bet on Betfair that we’d concede....as I logged Betfair had frozen the odds....stream was a minute behind. Which meant someone had scored....

Ho hum.

It’s all a learning process and it’s about this team growing over the next five months. Though with Auba out for three games and I think Laca on a one match ban for the next one Eddie N might get a game !

One thing is clear...Torreira is absolutely key...Xhaka and Guendouzzi just doesn’t work...and guess who were Emery’s favourite combination. You have to love Guendouzzi’s energy but he’s definitely lackin g a bit in terms of nouse but he’s only 20.

Listened to Harry Roly poly on talk b*****x the other day.
Blinkered spud that he is...
Couldn't see that Arteta had made an impact and there wasn't much improvement and that he wasn't all cracked up to be.
What a load of tosh he talks.
No matter who you are, you cannot possibly fail to see improvement in the team as a whole, and the players as individuals.
He's not the 'messiah' ....and who knows what the future holds....but he's at least Arteta has put the brakes on an awful slide we were in, and I am encouraged by what I see.

Stick to buying up Sandbanks and competing with Mary Berry you North Middlesex dinosaur
