Only saw the last half hour but sounds like what went before wasn’t great...good result in the end. I’ll take that.
I’ll be honest I think people are expecting way too much if they think Arteta is going to be playing free flowing Top 4 football at this stage....unbalance squad that was shot to pieces when he arrived. I think there have been enough glimpses of play to know we’re heading in the right direction....also seems to get the “management” side of things. Guendouzzi had a reputation for getting a bit carried away with himself and whilst he’s a fantastic talent you could also see that propbably there’s an ego to match it.

Saka is about the only player worthy of the shirt currently, man of the match again for me, midfield shocking, Laca couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo, until he got one sat on a plate for him, again supplied by the only player showing any quality. Still the record will show a win, and a messy win is a win.
I agree Saka is the only one who stood out last night... Guendozi and Willock really not up to the mark.. Cheib said:

Yup. We were lucky not to be behind; two clear chances one of which Leno got his hand to. Agreed on the MA expectation. In a way I understand the impatience. We've been up there challenging albeit in an underachieving fashion and not only do most fans want to see us back there, they want the problems we had back then to be addressed. We won't throw bags of money at making wholesale changes and in a way, I'm glad we won't. If Arteta can make certain individuals play better this would indicate that we can and probably will go about building - or rebuilding - the squad in the right way.

Unbalanced squad is putting it mildly. The management of Xhaka and Luiz has been very good so far. As players they have their weaknesses, and Emery didn't seem to recognise or be able to do anything about them, in contrast Arteta seems to be implementing systems which play to their strengths.
Interesting what's going on the the RB position in my opinion, Sokratis there last night with Hector rested. New boy Soares on the way back, but what does that mean for AMN? Thought his inverted role was pretty decent in the first few games, and he seemed better suited than Bellerin to it.

My usual whinge
How the hell is Mustafi a professional footballer?
Appalling player that still somehow gets games for us
Makes Luiz look solid and dependable
I am actually going to give him credit for the second half, he was shouting to organise those around him and cleared quite a lot of headers out of the box... usually I don't see him, but now he has put a big beacon on his head I could spot his involvement. How the hell is Mustafi a professional footballer?

Don't get me wrong... he usually costs us a goal a game!

I thought he had a decent game yesterday. Confused also at why MOTD didn't show Richarlison going through Ceballos (and then his follow-up reaction, leaning over him and shouting something, and then squaring up to Bellerin doing that pathetic head-to-head thing). I didn't have the benefit of a replay as I was at the game but it looked quite bad from where I was sat.
Yeah, I'm not sure why Mustafi would attract any more ire than anyone else yesterday.
Seven points to fourth looks doable (we've overturned bigger deficits than that before) - the problem though isn't the points, it's the number of teams above us. To get 4th we'd have to do considerably better than all of wolves, Sheffield United, spurs, man u and Chelsea. Fifth place means being better than four of them. Put it like that and it looks a different proposition. Some hard games before the end of the season (though games against Man U and Chelsea since Arteta took over world suggest that we should look forward to those instead of dread them). All to play for but I think it'll be too much of an ask. If we can finish above wolves and Sheffield then that'll be a hell of a jump up the table and probably as much as we can reasonably expect.

I think we can try too hard for CL qualification. Will only end in disappointment. The emphasis should be on rebuilding the squad and reestablishing some kind of identity. If this process exceeds expectation, I'll take it but we need time to regroup. It's going well enough so far.
100% this. We’re down to one fit left back again after last night so we need to be mindful of stretching the squad. I think the fact Leno played last week in Greece was a sign we’re taking the Europa League seriously as an option which I think is great. The almost arrogance of not playing your best players in important games just didn’t sit well with me....that went on for far too long.
