Yep. Maribor are no mugs when it comes to these qualifiers.
They had most of the game tonight and were better than us, but we are definitely much improved at the back from last year, gotta thank Stevie for that, and McGregor for the penalty save.

Sorry Hibs went out would have been nice to have more Scottish teams through

Should be an interesting SPL season this year, looking forward to it not being a procession for the first time in years

Not with their captain out for half the season, Levein's one dimensional tactics and selling their main nuisance upfront to their Glasgow rivals

Yes those are very good! Excellent way to pass the time. Si Ferry seems to build an excellent rapport with his intrviewees.

The game against Maribor was the only real test so far. Although Rangers won the big breaks strongly went their way.

The 2nd of September is the next test. Lots of questions are being asked of Celtic at the moment. Rangers need to prove themselves in this game.

At manager announcement, I thought and hoped there would be a boost of professionalism and some hype. And we’d need a squad clear out.

Once early transfers announced, especially McGregor and Arfield, I was very excited about the prospects. Real English Premier League quality coming in. I had an enthusiasm lull with the presence of loans, but I think Coulibaly, Kent and Ejaria have shown so far they can really contribute. Goldson looks like a £10m+ centre back.

All still early days though. Stevie G hasn’t even had the challenge of being behind in a game yet. Few injuries floating about too, Murphy being a loss as he is highly effective.

Er... I think their match against Motherwell who had a hex on us last year, and a 4th European away game this season are the next tests.

Motherwell have looked poor this season. Hibs thumped them and they also lost at home to Hamilton.

You'd expect Rangers to beat Motherwell. It would hardly be a barometer of success to beat the team bottom of the league.

Hard to gauge progress against a team we know nothing about.

Next week is a big game. It's the first time in a long time that an easy Celtic win isn't predicted. Rangers are on a high and Celtic are on a low. Rangers need to make a statement next week.

Hearts getting another win this week makes things interesting. Clarke isn't happy at all with the ref. Hibs and Aberdeen drawing is giving them breathing space.

Hmm. Playing last year’s second best team in Scotland, at their home ground, with 10 men, wasn’t a test - is it possible you’re being disingenuous?

I think we’re forgetting where this team was a few months or a year ago. Just because they’ve faced and passed every test in this early part season, doesn’t make doing so any less of an achievement.

Re Motherwell today: it’s a different test. Last year they managed to bully us. They’ve been unprofessional in the press leading up to this match too, presumably trying to get into the heads a bit. I’ll be very pleased if we come out with 3 points.

Rangers always had a good record against Aberdeen. Wasn't there a couple of very comfortable wins last season. Do I not remember a 3-0 in Aberdeen?

Aberdeen were awful in the first game. Not sure if the Burnley game took too much out of them, but they played very bad in their own right.

I'll tune into the football between the touring car races today for a look.

Just watched Steven Gerard showing his inexperience as a manager in putting on a substitute with 15 seconds of extra time remaining with Motherwell about to take a corner which would be the last kick of the ball. Why would you do that? It just gave Motherwell time to get their act together for the corner which they scored from. 2 points thrown away.

Some game that. Defensive errors by Rangers in an experiMENTAL 3 at the back. Almost all Motherwell second half, would say they deserved the equaliser.

Would’ve hated to have refereed it. Lots of niggly daft things when the ball was dead.

Aye. Sub should’ve been on minutes earlier, then the whistle would’ve maybe gone before corner. Credit to Motherwell - excellent set pieces all day.

Both teams right up for that today and gave 100%. Rangers do look faster and more effort going in.

I would say Motherwell deserved to win. Missed a couple of good chances prior to Lafferty's huge deflection. The last 20 minutes they ripped Rangers to bits, missed a sitter and just the final ball after creating opening after opening.

Not sure I seen a £10m player in Goldson. He looked like a player who hadn't played football before. He was a shambles and out of his depth playing at this level.

I thought the ref did well. Not really much called wrong other than a tight offside call against Motherwell.

Lafferty and Morelos just annoy the life out of me. They just throw themselves to the ground at every opportunity.

Can’t disagree with any of that - other than the comment about Goldson. That’s the first he’s put a foot wrong in a Gers shirt so I consider It unfair of you to judge his value on a few sightings between touring car races. Hard conditions for all the defenders today.

The first race went to safety car as the game started. I seen all but 5 minutes(start of 2nd half) of the game and seen the slight overlap on the BT app.

It wasn't the conditions to blame. He just had no reading of the game and was pushed aside too easily. He was dreadful.

Even all the commentators pointed out how poor he was.

Barisic looked a player. Other than that I did expect more from Rangers after all the hype.
