Rondon touted about for £16m this morning.
Still think the midfield should be top priority though especially if he retains Hernandez we should be covered up front. Along with another centre back having lost Fonte and Collins now. Right wing back is also a bit of a problem, we were lucky Zabaleta remained fairly fit last season.
But yes £60m gets you three reasonable/good players nowadays, when you think we could probably get £50m for Lanzini (in the Argentine squad for the WC I see).

I can’t imagine Pellegrini taking the job if there wasn’t a decent transfer budget involved.
Like I said last night, surely he will want £60m? That doesn’t get you a whole heap of players these days. bad company said:

Why would we want to sell Lanzini? I really hope he stays.Yes Collins is definitely worth keeping especially for those backs to the wall players behind the ball type games where he gets the blocks in etc. 34 isn't old for a reasonably good centre back especially in a back three and would provide great cover. Although how he has been treated by the club I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't interested in coming back into the fold.

Has he actually gone? Collins looked very emotional after the Everton match. He seems to genuinely care about the club. One of us.
Given how they got rid of Moyes with no option to get him back I think they knew they had their man for a few days if not a week now. Pellegrini left his club over the weekend so discussions must have been ongoing for some time before that. I agree, a better manager, more forward thinking but does need to be allowed to compete financially for good players.
In other gossip I hear we have pulled the plug on replacing Tony Henry, I hope that isn't a sign that Sullivan wants to stay involved in player acquisitions.

I saw another mention of a Football Director somewhere, although that'll depend to a large degree on MP's view of that position.
Removing Sully entirely from dealings is impossible, hopefully though MP has the gravitas to argue his case against st loans, washed-up retirees, no-name championship fillers & south American wonder-kids.

In an interview Pellegrini said he is "hoping to add 4-5 players in the summer" so he must have discussed transfers with Sullivan as part of the move over. Lets just hope the board dont think their spending is done getting this guy in as the profile appointment and that another seasons of winging it will suffice...
I am still bothered that as a club we have had something like 5 managers in Gold & Sullie's time, almost one a year and I maintain that a period of stability is what's required. That said, clearly Pelligrini is a class above BFS and Moyse, he should attract better players and it instills a feeling of us heading upwards instead of doing things in the cheap. Dare I say it, maybe the protests actually brought home to the board the underlying discontent? I only hope now that he sees out his 3 year contract and that there is a clear path to his successor. I can't help feel there will be the usual shambles somewhere ahead!

I can’t see The Dave’s paying up his 3 year contract after a year, can you? That would cost them wayyyyyyy too much money and you know how much they like to keep it in their pocket
I read/heard some theories about there being some ‘behind the scenes’ investment ahead of a full takeover whenever they don’t get penalised for selling up too early. So, they retain overall control for the time being but are being bankrolled to a certain extent.
