I thought they were trying to give him an extended contract?
Mind you, £50m would be a tidy profit.
He's off to the WC so presume anything will settled post-tournament. Mind you, £50m would be a tidy profit.
Can't see (and certainly don't want) him being sold though w/ MP now at the helm.
Agree thought that £50m (can't actually see him being a £50m player either though) would be a hell of a return - cost us circa £15m (?) from memory.
Major tournaments create a frenzy of activity - and yes totally possible that tapping up happens but suspect its most likely through other players saying 'hey the boss said he really needs a player like you at Madrid' - next thing you know the players agent has put a story in the press and off you go...

I thought it was circa £8m?
Wasn't it two stages - an initial loan fee & then a top-up via a "purchase option" that we exercised. Either way we would make a pot load of cash, and imagine his wages have not been crazy levels straight off the bat as he wasn't a known name at the time. Would prefer he stays though, when he is fit alongside Arnie they are hugely mobile and cause endless problems and complement each other well.

Yep, that's what concerns me - always pleased when our chaps avoid a call-up.
Wish AC had been selected. I actually like him very much when he’s playing and ‘on song’ but that’s pretty rare.I just wonder if anybody will put in an offer given the guys fitness record.

I think unless a really big team comes in for him he won't be going anywhere. I hope he stays.
Yep me too - sounds like a lot of money but finding a replacement given reasonably good players are going for £30m+ nowadays wont be easy. If Lanzini has an outstanding WC and outshines his compatriots I can imagine the big teams will come looking but for them we should be tough and hold out for big big money - I know he might not be 'worth' say £75m but we should be looking for that much, like Coutinho who is 'worth' £100m+sjc said:
Season tickets duly renewed, another 12 months of no doubt shaking my head in disbelief....
Have faith, you never know! I saw that they are clearing the decks, read that Gary Lewin is gone along with some club medical staff. Pellegrini is bringing in his own fitness team, hope they can cut down the amount of stupid muscle injuries we over index against.Gossip columns this morning have Man Utd in for Arnie? We are also after a few players from the relegated teams Ndiaye being the latest one.
