...and in other news Repka has got a 6 month stretch in a Czech jail for revenge porn on his ex-wife! laugh
I saw that earlier; the lambo will have to go into storage for a bit - bloke's a loon.
He was good though and he was OUR loon.
There was an article on him when it first came to trial some time back... he's certainly had a life!i

I grew up watching Julian Dicks, he was on the back of every shirt I ever got. Apart from a few away strips with Cottee on the back for the away days I got dragged to biggrin

Do you think they’d get into the second half before being sent off?

A few years back a recent ref reviewed the famous early 70’s cup game between Chelsea and Leeds. With modern rules only one player would have stayed on the pitch for the 90 minutes!

West Ham vs Arsenal, FA Cup final, Allen through on goal in the dying minutes, (Rice I think it was) just hoofs his heels away as the last man from behind just outside the box. Yellow card. West Ham just got on with it without surrounding the referee and going bonkers. Allen gets up with rueful smile on his face but also gets on with it (well thats what i remember of it!). Imagine it now...bunch of primadonnas screaming obscenities at the ref and linesfolk at half the decisions made.

It was Willie Young.
And Allen would have been the youngest ever to score in FA Cup final if he hadn't been brought down, remember it like yesterday.

It would be a straight red card now.

Yes Willie Young that was it! (couldnt be bothered to google it my bad). An absolute textbook example of why straight reds for that were brought in. And yes 17 year old through on goal...oh and there is history gone laugh

Don't get me wrong, football back in the 80s wasn't exactly pretty to watch, no where near as fast and free flowing as it is now, players are much fitter, faster, etc. but I do wish players nowadays would cut out all the crap and focus on manning up and playing the game.

I was there at that final and will never forget the day. Apparently it wasn't a great game but you couldn't have told me that on the day, I was thrilled and very very nervous as we got closer to the final whistle with our 1 goal lead.

I also remember driving away from Wembley with a can of beer in one hand, what on earth was I thinking of. I wouldn't have been over the limit but literally drinking and driving at the same time. eek

The rozzers will be after you now, admittance of guilt! I was 6 for that final, so was not there! My parents and brother both hate football, I was kind of forging my own way from a young age and decided on West Ham being an Essex kid and seeing games like this on TV!

Are we still the last team to win the FA cup from outside the top division with that game?

I think so - although it has been done a few times over the years. Cannot see it happening again given the gulf between the two divisions financially.

As far as I know yes.

We're also the last 2 teams to win with 11 Englishmen in 1964 and 1975. Ray Stewart played in the 1980 final but still an all British team.

Yes. Cardiff are the last team from outside the top division to get to the final (2008 & lost to P'mouth).

So how about some changes this weekend? Obiang and Sanchez in, along with Diop dropping either Balbuena or Og. Fredericks in? Start with Yarmalenko?
