More worrying for West Ham I feel is that players of his quality are Euro tied at the January transfer window .

Am I right in thinking that Arnautovich played under Jose at Inter ?
Yes he did, not sure they saw eye to eye either.

To be honest, as a player I would be giving Manyoo a wide berth right now. A work mate of mine went to OT to watch them vs Palace and said the place is toxic, fans booing players and decisions, no real support for the team inside the ground. Mourinho seems to have killed it and I guess its just a case of waiting until he is gone.

Apparently Oxford wants out in January too.

And whats the odds on West ham signing Ashley Cole now he has been released...37, used to be good, not good enough for any team in the division he was playing in to consider signing him, so bang got to be worth a 50k a week contract with us

Christ, I really hope they don't even think about signing him.

I read somewhere this morning that we're not going to continue discussing Rice's contract until the summer now. Is that normal?

Not surprised about Oxford, he’s not getting matches.

Yes that live game against Arsenal, he was outstanding. Never got picked again, then shipped off to Germany.

Sorry yes was being a bit flippant when I said never picked again, should have said never consistently picked again, given what a good game he had that day there must be stuff behind the scenes going on not to be picked more often when you think Rice has been a shoo-in all season.

Weren't he 16 or something like that at the time? Then loaned out for experience? Saying that, what better place to learn than at a club that always has massive injury problems, probably would have got more game time.

Yes, its not like we have been flush with decent and fit defenders/defensive midfielders for the last 3 years or so. Given that we have had Rice come through in what you could argue a more competitive squad there must be something wrong with Oxfords head/approach or something.

Indeed, I have often wondered where it went wrong for him.

He got picked the following game after arsenal, we all said he should have been taken out of the limelight after it.However he played the next home game and looked like he’d never kicked a ball in his life.

Can't remember who that was against but he had a shocker & was hung out by SB.

I last saw him playing in a pre-season vs. Billericay this year.

My memory isn't that good but did he get put in at central defence rather than a holding midfielder?

Think still MF, have to check when I've a moment. All a while ago now though.

Checked now & think he was in a back three with Reid & Ogbonna.

Last league game he started was home defeat to Leicester, 15.08.15. On the bench the following game (also a loss rolleyes ), on the bench a few times for the remainder of the season.

Started UEFA Cup games v NK Dom (H) & Astra (A) in Aug 16.

Has played in First Team in 2018: League Cup v Shrewsbury (subbed off), bench v Wigan (FA Cup (A)) and last seen as a sub coming on in the draw v Palace (H).

Under contract until 2021.

Yeah I do remember a couple of errors that led to goals when they dropped him into the back line. I remember Rio Ferdinand making his debut up front I think it was and playing a fair bit in midfield before settling at the back (Sol Campbell I remember played England U-21s as a striker!) seems like we never had the stability in the team to allow him to find his role.

Spurs game last night was pretty good, we had hospitality tickets so gorged on free booze and food before the game and at halftime, the atmosphere was pretty flat though the travelling Italian support was VERY vocal. There was the occasional Come On You Spurs sung but generally pretty tense night - big cheers when Eriksson came on, he was a level above the rest of the midfield and finished a good move off for the win. Actually glad Spurs won as Inter were totally there to spoil the game, the time wasting right from the off was dreadful, each goal kick took about 30-40 seconds, freekicks took over a minute to take it really ruined the flow of the game.

Expecting little again today - one win in 20 yrs on Tyneside, FFS, and rarely beat Benitez teams.

Still AC & Wilshere both in the squad so fingers crossed.

COYI!!!

Indeed, Lawro is predicting 2:0 to Newcastle and I tend to agree with him.
