We actually did ok for 45 minutes ... arsenal were utter garbage.As soon as they scored we fell to pieces... again.
The amount of times we turned the ball over on the first half the wasted it by going sideways or backwards afterwards was shocking. As was the three first half thrown ins where we managed to lose the ball without actually touching it.

Said to my mate @ HT that maureen would've gone for kill & brought Haller on during the last 10 mins first half as they were all over the place.

Obvs pellers showed them his holiday snaps, did fk all & we rolled over again. Think that's last four (?) home games we've shipped three.

We all know that Arthur really isn’t a left back but Cresswell was injured so what was the alternative?

Selling him last summer, not giving him an extended contract, bringing in a younger hungry back up to Cresswell?

This isn't with the benefit of hindsight either, it's clear he isn't fit for purpose yet gets rewarded. If he isn't a left back he shouldn't be playing at a club as a left back and getting a huge salary for the privilege.

Nah don't buy that. I played for many years as a very average but quick right back at Sunday league, you instinctively know where to stand such that inside is a tackle, outside is running race and a narrow angle.

You could see he just needed a single step to the right and he is fine. He may get beaten by a great bit of skill but he he has done his simple job correctly

Agree with most of that, I meant there was little alternative yesterday evening. I like Arthur as an attacking left half possibly. He has good feet but he’s not a defender.

This season has all the hallmarks of the Bilic last season all over again. We will lose to Southampton next up as they are scoring goals again and arent getting beat easily, we have the worst form in the division by some margin now so an easy target and our manager is just putting out the same team and same instructions each game - very predictable and looking for a result based on hope than any actual tactical approach.

I just cannot see how Pelle's job is tenable right now - we were sliding before the summer and nothing was done to arrest all the defensive frailties that were there for all to see long before this season started.

Should've made his change @ HT - got Haller on, Noble/Fornals off & two up front - keep pressing them as we were on the front foot before HT and arse defence was looking v.shaky.

Might not then have picked up the injury.

But you do the basics right, which is giving him something to think about and try and make him do something he doesn’t want, not stand off and give him all the space he wants to do what he wants. I watch this bloke every week, he’s probably been partly responsible for 6/7/8 goals this season already,not bad for someone who’s only played half the games. If he had keepers gloves on the crowd would tear him a new one like they did Roberto.

Totally agree, he would be torn to pieces if he was in goal thats how bad he is. When I watch him attempting to mark players and they score, he literally stands still and looks totally bemused when his man gets away and puts it in. First he looks at other players as if they should have covered it, then it slowly dawns on him it was his job, then trots off and repeats - there is no learning going on there and its a shame young players are held out of the first team whilst some players not fit for purpose continue - the management have a lot to answer for.
