I think the criticism is because what errors he did make were rather glaring and frankly smacked of lazy-ball syndrome. In other areas he was fine.
Lazy ball syndrome? He had a 95% pass completion rate the highest in the team on the night. He lost the ball twice, both time he immediately recovered it which the commentators called out. He won all but one of the challenges he made, he won the single aerial dual he took part in and made two interceptions. If anyone can call out the glaring errors, happy to be reminded of it.
A couple of times he made errant passes when under no pressure. Yes he had an overall good game but when he did make an error it stuck out. Perhaps if you could me a pair of those claret sunglasses you all seem to have on I'll completely agree with you wink

Look, he was good, I'm not debating that.
Think this is a fair summing up ...

When you can point out these errors and errant passes that stuck out would be happy to agree with you. He completed 65 passes with 95% completion rate so he would have misplaced approximately three passes over 90 minutes so it shouldn't be hard to highlight them?

Certainly a little claret tinted, but not blindly. There is no mention of errant passing or glaring errors in any summing up by experts or the stats so still not sure what you are referring to? As above he misplaced three passes, I remember one which was a 30 yarder fired into Barkley that was intercepted when the defender read it and stood in but cannot remember the other two?

If you watch his body language throughout as the Mail article calls out he was speeding up the play, demanding the ball and setting the team up to attack.

My bad, stats I read on a site on the way to work this morning were slightly wrong according to the EPL twitter site:

96% pass accuracy (most for england)
71 completed passes (most for england)
2 blocked shots
2 interceptions (most for england)
7 tackles (most for england)

There were no errant passes of note - I think the main issue is for players in this position is that they do not appear to be doing anything spectacular so they are marked down for a pasting by trolls on social media who really do not understand football and the role each player takes.

I saw 2 badly misplaced passes, 1 of which he fortunately got back due to the interceptors even more glaring miscontrol of the ball.

I remember one misplaced, which he retrieved. Hardly glaring, the opposition didnt get anything from it, it wasnt on the edge of the box or in a position of danger. Commentator said 'Rice misplaced it but what better thing to do than go and get it back' I also remember when he got it back he set up an attack straight from it.

I think you are picking holes in something that isn't there. Rose lost the ball inside the box passing it straight to the opposition who then generated a shot which fortunately went wide, if we want to pick out glaring errors.

...not to mention Hudson losing his man for the goal. Pickford showing the attacker the far corner and not closing the angle. Walker caught out of position a number of times and having the ball played in behind him. Sterling giving away a dangerous freekick with a silly tackle on the edge of our box at 2-1 so on and so forth. All much more glaring?

I think you will always have trolls, I get you are saying its because of glaring errors which I am sorry I don't agree with (losing the ball in the middle of the park is not a glaring error it happens all the time to every midfielder every game) - its definitely though more about a % of fans who do not understand football properly and do not understand that if you do not notice the defensive midfielder in a win then they have done a fantastic job wink

Apparently WHU to offer Nasri £75k a week contract smile

Some utterly ridiculous reports in the pages this morning that ManUtd rate Rice at £40m and will buy him in the summer laugh

That ever mouthy and stupid James McClean slating Rice yesterday on social media saying other players thinking of switching should just 'sod of and play for someone else' - obviously doesn't apply to himself who came up through the U-21 Northern Irish ranks before switching to Ireland...really, how stupid are these footballers, monumental hypocrisy.

I just read that Andy Carroll is buying Rod Stewart’s house in Epping so he wants to stay in the area.

Wonder if he’ll ever use Rod’s football pitch? laugh

I suspect that post-WH deal he's done.

Can't see any other Clubs taking the risk nor him wanting to drop down & play in the lower leagues or have many (sensible) options abroad.

It is a shame but he chose to live the way he does. I'd love to go on the piss five nights a week if there were no negative consequences but, unfortunately, there would be...

I think the thing is he doesn't see that. If he is buying an even more expensive house either he has secured a decent deal with another London club behind the scenes or he is really deluded. I cannot see what club would throw a 3 year plus contract at a guy that cannot muster more than 3 or 4 games together and who isn't exactly world class either.

And as others have said, whenever he is injured he is down the pub with his mates necking beer. This is not something that helps injuries heal or keep your body fit for purpose. No sympathy here, the guy is wasted talent due to poor application.

That sums up AC completely. Tragic waste of immense talent.

Considering what we've (supposedly) been paying him over the last few years plus (presumably) other endorsements and his wife's income (think she has a TV show (?)) Rod's drum will be small change (there ought to be a loadsamoney type smiley) .

Struggling to get enthusiastic about today after the last couple of performances which is a bizarre feeling after coming back like we did.
Still, lad is away in Berlin so I have the opportunity for a few beers pre-match which will make a nice change.

Looking forward to the match but peed off at the late kick off which ruins my Saturday evening. ☹️
