As much as I hate Spurs, I don't think anyone can say they are under-achieving?
This and next season are likely to be their best chance of a trophy for a while IMO. If they don't achieve anything next season, one can see Poch and crew leaving to "bigger" clubs, unless the immovable Levy starts spending like he needs to. It should be nivarna time for the Spuds, and they still can't win anything. chrisb92 said:

Maybe so, but they've progressed every season, been involved in a title battle for this season and last (at least up till the last few weeks) and I think most people will expect them to challenge again next season and probably but a better cup run together.
I don't think anyone expected them to be this strong in the league this season, but they probably did as expected in the cup competitions, but definitely not under-achieved in my eyes.
They haven't progressed this season imo. No trophy... again and going to fall short in the league... again. They need trophies.I don't think anyone expected them to be this strong in the league this season, but they probably did as expected in the cup competitions, but definitely not under-achieved in my eyes.

Because all the money bags clubs spend fortunes every year. Have you just started watching football or haven't you noticed that when you spend lots of money you typically win stuff...there's a fairly strong correlation in fact.
Money isn't any guarantee of success, especially when other clubs are doing the same as you!...Spurs have built a little on last season as they didn't need a fundamental overhaul to challenge. That's why I expected them to be about where they are. I mentioned under achieving as they've been largely woeful in the cup competitions something they really should have made a better fist at.

Well for one, they spent very little (again) whereas you lot spent a lot and got in a proven EPL winner manager - they have over-achieved again, arguably you and City have under-achieved. Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal roughly as expected
IMHO
I'd say we've done about as expected. If we win the Europa and do a double I'd say we've exceeded expectations. Yes it would have been nice to challenge for the title and if things had have gone slightly better for us at home in the league (FFS!) we'd be right up there. IMHO
No manager in the history of United has won a trophy in their first season...until Jose came along. Special ain't he!

agreed, I was basing my comments on current situation only
Sure...things aren't finished yet Spurs could still win the league. The mentality at United is to win a trophy every season, it's not always going to be the top prize but a prize nonetheless. That's our mentality.

You'll spend another 200million to try and win things this summer while already having the highest wage bill in the league.

What happened to City this year then?Go through all the leagues in the world, if you're not spending in the top few (transfers and wages) you're probably not winning the league.

I would say that's the mentality of most teams in top 7 or 8, however only 3 can afford it and the rest rely on a combination of a period of good form and luckGassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
