Certainly would have taken a point before the game last night. Boring to watch but Jose admitted that attacking wise it didn't work. Perhaps a formation with Jessie and Rashford upfront as a 2 might have been better but never mind.

The run continues and we are still a shout for top 4.

We had one fit centre back and only one competent centre midfielder available. We got a draw away at Man City.

I would call that a decent result.

Yes but you've got to admit it's boring.

At Chelsea even when Mourinho had everyone fit and we were playing an average team he'd still sit back.

Have to face up to the fact that this is as good as it gets.
We've been playing some good football and creating a lot of chances with Mourinho but it's the trendy thing to knock his tactics and mock him for being so defensive without watching our games. Lots of other fans are bored, embarrassed or disappointed on our behalf. After Moyes and LvG the progress is very much welcomed by the vast majority of United fans.

Last night was a bad performance from us but I don't think it goes deeper than that with the players we've got out.

Half team missing , playing 3 games a week....a decent result considering .terrible game and the midfield were awful in terms of getting the ball forwrd but expected with fellaini playing .
Bailly was immense .

Yeah you done well , but with a starting side coming in at a cost of £231M & another £75M worth on the bench you'd think they really should do better than just have 31% procession & just a single shot on target in a local derby wouldn't you .
A few weeks ago everyone on here was praising Carrick, the unsung hero!

And were you guys really that badly hit by injuries? Smalling was out, but I've seen a lot of criticism of him anyway. Bailly is World class (apparently) and most of you guys seem to prefer Blind. First choice RB and LB. Herrara is first choice, and I think even with Pogba fit, Jose would probably have gone defensive anyway and chosen Carrick and Fellaini. There's only Ibra that I see would have been a change last night if he had been fit.

I can't see that injuries had much of an impact last night considering you came to Anfield in October and played in exactly the same way.

We have 4 centre backs. 3 of them are out injured.

Our best midfielder was out injured. There is zero chance that he would have been left out if fit.

Our top scorer (by a country mile) was out injured.

City were at home and at full strength. If I were a City fan, I would be gutted that they couldn't get 3 points.

Spuds are just upset that we didn't help them hang onto 2nd. City were in good enough form last night to win all their remaining games.

If I was a Utd fan I'd be disappointed that with the most expensively assembled squad in the league you didn't have enough strength in depth to do anything other than park the bus again.

For once in my life I'm ahead of the curve. I was knocking his defensive tactics in 2004.

If you think he's going all expansive next season after you've signed Messi, Neymar, Griesman et al you're going to be disappointed. They'll all be tracking back behind the ball. Look at the difference between Hazard this year compared to last.

Mourinho will win you trophies but it will be defensive displays accompanied by his pouting, whinging and whining.

This preffty much - the good thing is that the only CB we have fit is back to his early season form. Sane was nowhere.

Thing I find funny is that we've been criticised this season for not being able to break down teams, yet I've not seen one remark about City not being able to break US down. Funny that. It was a defensive masterclass last night with Bailly at the heart of it again.

All the United fans I've heard from and read about we're satisfied with the result, not particulary happy, but satisfied.

How good did it get against your lot? How good were you? Not a shot on target if I recall correctly?

I'm not here to play tit-for-tat but just to help you.

I think Utd fans are deluded if they think the style of play will change after José has recruited the team he wants and all players are fit.

He had Ronaldo tracking back at Real Madrid.

Stop dreaming of jam tomorrow. José doesn't do jam. Contentment and happiness will be found if you can savor dripping.

And yet Liverpool have been far more impressive recently. How is Benteke getting on?

I'm not expecting Barcelona of 2009/10 plus mentioning Messi and Neymar is a bit daft because you know no United fans genuinely think we're signing them. We'll wait and see how United progress next season but after the game last night all the pundits agreed that we're on an upward curve from what's been a load of ste the last few years, I don't know what part of that is hard to grasp? We've dominated teams this season and even though we've drawn a lot, I'd rather be dominating games and drawing than playing crap.

Do you want United fans to be unhappy with Mourinho or something?

In summary, Utd will probably win things over the next couple of years; Spurs definitely will not; Liverpool definitely will not; Arsenal definitely will not. But we should be upset about this whereas Spuds and Scousers are champions of the universe. Hard to follow.

We did what we had to do really, considering what we had.

Another clean sheet and only 5 goals conceded this year.. still undefeated in league since October, incredible really when we haven't sussed out how to score yet biggrin

Next season there is no reason to change defence just add a couple of world class forwards, get Luke Shaw and Mata to full fitness and there's no doubt we will be contenders next season.

Haters gonna hate!

Do you not think there might be a correlation between conceding few goals (lots of players defending) and not scoring many (not many attacking)?

Ffs we've had PLENTY of attacking football this season but we've just not finished the chances. Jose has always been known to have a very organised defense and not conceed many goals, no different with us. Next season we will be flying.

SAF once said...strikers win you games but defence wins you championships. Worked ok for him.
