Yes, been wondering how Herrera's feeling about being player of the season then being dropped like a hot stone. Does he really have to be? Just because he's played the role of breaking up play most of the time, doesn't mean he couldn't ping it about a bit alongside Pogba with license to break from deeper like Scholes did so well. Matic can look after the defending. Still not a huge fan of Mata's lack of pace and strength either (can't fault the finesse or effort though) so he could take his place for me.

I am torn on this one. I really like Herrera. But isn't the problem that he's not quite as good as Mata at that role and not as good as Pogba at his role or Matic at his role? He's a fantastic squad player at the moment, but I do feel sorry for him.

Where does it say this then?
You cannot hold onto a player once he hands in a transfer request and then starts pulling sickies. He's desperate to leave. And the offer is well above market price.Insane to try to hang onto him.

I'm not sure....who is the bigger fight with? Trying to fend off the other club until the close of the window or trying to sweeten the deal to make the player accept he is going nowhere (YET). You lot did it with De Gea, but to be fair to him he never had a back issue.
I don't think De Gea was as desperate to leave. He may have been fairly indifferent but under pressure from his girlfriend! De Gea will leave at some point, but he seems happy enough to play for us.

Quite. Putting caution to one side, I am pretty damn excited about this team (for the first time in years).
I thought we weren't actually a million miles off last season. Pogba, Rashford and Mikki all looked special to me. And now we have added some steel and class in DM and a fast striker with a record of scoring goals in the PL.
I'm as excited about Pogba and Rashford as I was about Giggs and Scholes back in the day. Absolutely first rate talents.
Totally agree with this. I agree we weren't far away, just some naysayers thought we were miles off. I guess the league points tally doesn't lie but I personally always saw us closer than that. We've simply added a layer on this season and it seems to have freed us up when space appears on the pitch that's the main difference. That and the finishing, when we get a chance in front of goal we seem to be taking it. I thought we weren't actually a million miles off last season. Zlatan.. Staying?
I can see him coming back. He's got a proud record of winning the league wherever he's played and will want to keep that. I'm sure he'll have noticed the start we've made and thought I'll have a bit of that. He needs 10 appearances (I think) to get a winners medal. Talk that his wages will be around half what he was on. I think that would be good business for United. anniesdad said:

Quite funny poking my head into the Liverpool thread.
Liverpool fans that pollute this thread are utterly convinced that their brilliant side is the bestest team on Earth and vastly better than Utd. But on their own thread, there is a lot of uncertainty about whether they can get through to the EL by narrowly beating Hoffenheim over 2 legs, i.e. precisely the kind of "crap" team that Utd that had to beat repeatedly to win the Europa cup that Liverpool fans supposedly dont think is worth winning because it is too easy.

Surely CL qualifiers are one rung above EL qualifiers? Liverpool fans that pollute this thread are utterly convinced that their brilliant side is the bestest team on Earth and vastly better than Utd. I can't think of one poster who thinks LFC are "the bestest team on earth" so you are just making that up.Liverpool fans that pollute this thread are utterly convinced that their brilliant side is the bestest team on Earth and vastly better than Utd. ORD is comparing a single CL qualifying game against the type of teams we had to beat to WIN (not qualify) the EL.
So I don't see your point.
