I agree. The first priority for every top six club is to secure Champions League qualification. After that, it's a title shot. After that a cup is either a nice to have or also a necessity depending on the club.
For Liverpool this season, we HAD to get CL for next season. A good cup run would have been nice, but really not significant next to getting in the Champions League!

Danny Ward has sent Huddersfield to the premiership! Hope Liverpool loan him out again next season to get some premier league experience so he can challenge Mings for the number 1 spot in a couple of seasons.
Quite amazing - the last time they were in the top flight was 1972, the year I started following football. They'll probably head straight down but who knows, look at Bournemouth...http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/tran...

maybe sparky if reading can let us know

I did some work at his agent a couple of years ago - the agency were constantly under pressure from other agents trying to poach him. He was definitely in the "will make it" column.Done well to get him - im 99% sure they rate him very very highly there

At least he will get a game. Good to see some teams willing to sign promising young English players.

From what I've heard he's not better than Origi yet, but most people think he has a higher ceiling. Will be interesting to see how he develops in comparison to Woodburn.
Someone needs to find a video of his best highlights to share so we can all get excited and expect him to be the next big thing. Seems to be the way we do it most summers! And perhaps draw comparisons with another Chelsea striker we signed who turned out to be pretty decent, if a little injury prone.RedTrident said:
We play with 1 striker/forward. We have Firmino for that position though he can and will also play in the other 2 positions.
I'd have 2 other players to compete there. A top tier striker and a young kid. I'm thinking this is the young lad and Woodburn will go on loan.
Woodburn isn't a number 9. I'd have 2 other players to compete there. A top tier striker and a young kid. I'm thinking this is the young lad and Woodburn will go on loan.
I read on the Echo he will go in to the u23s and be on around £20k in line with our youth policy.
This was in an article back in Feb
A spokesman for Solanke said: 'His primary motivation is to play first team football, to become the best player he can be and to win trophies with the team he plays for.'
At the moment we have for attackers, Mane, Firmino, Lallana, Coutinho, Sturridge, Origi, Ings and Woodburn.
We will more than likely sign another attacking player too to hopefully compete for starting 11.
My opinion. He maybe highly rated potential wise but he will never be a starter for us. Ok Chelsea have let youngsters go in the past like De Bruyne and Lukaku who have turned out world class BUT they have had time elsewhere to start and improve whereas I think Solanke won't get much of a sniff for us.
If we qualify for the champs leagues groups he won't be nowhere near the starting line up and same for the prem, so he may get a chance in the cups but there aren't many games to impress.
Worth a punt at ~£5m I guess and he may have future resale value of £10m?
