I must admit, he doesn't quite fit my definition of world class either, but then my definition does seem to be a lot more stringent than most peoples.
My definition isn't "Ronaldo/Suarez/Messi-like". But anyone who plays for their country against other teams around the world, for me, is world class. I can remember him standing out in his national team when we bought him, too.

As pointed out, he did score a few crackers for us, even if the Prem was a bit physical for him, ultimately.
So anyone who gets a cap for their country?

Thanks Flip - that's exactly what I meant.

If he's 5'8 and Sterling esque I'd worry as he looks being our new midfield star but if he 5'8 and has the strength to battle a bit he'll be stand out.

And hype wise my question was asked as I'm not wholly familiar with him so not sure if he has provenance more than just one season.

Calm down Sye, genuine questions that's all. Anyway nothing wrong with being 5'8 mate wink
He's certainly not going to help us improve our set piece defending...

Not quite. Regular caps throughout their career though, yes. In his case a 1 in 4 goals to international game ratio too.

So you could have players that have regularly played for Gibraltar that you'd consider world class?

For me world class means they could legitimately stake a claim for a place in a world all stars team for their era.

And for me the definition would be different from the 2 above... so surprisingly the definition of world class varies between people, biggrin

I've got two that I use.

1. A team of aliens lands and challenges us to a game...who you putting in that 11.

And my slightly wider version

2. You're picking two teams to play each other. Who are the 22.

Mine is similar to 2 - who in that era would get into a World squad of 23

Be a good addition for 20m

I think he would excel under a manager like Klopp

Pearce has said he wants him and keita

Hi chaps - need to ask a big favour
- has anyone got 1 or 2 tickets going spare for the first home match on 19/8 against Palace?

I'm coming to UK for a holiday and will be in the area that day and would love to be able to go and even better if my 12 yr old lad can come as well.

If possible let me know, thanks.

Bit of an update, not that it's particularly interesting but I'm super fking excited - booked in for a hospitality deal against Palace - in the Boot Room then ticket to the Upper Annie Road stand - thoughts?

I always thought he was an attacking midfielder, so if he's an attacker, his stats aren't great and he seems to get injured quite a bit. He is still only 23, though.

I'd rather not sign him and put that £20m towards signing a proper left back. Milner does a good job, but we really need a natural defender/left footer.

Midfield/attack will be rammed next year:

Can
Henderson
Grujic
Wijnaldum
Milner

Firmino
Coutinho
Mane
Lallana
Salah

That's 5 players for each midfield 3 and not including the Sturridge, Origi, ings and Ojo, Ejaria, Woodburn etc, who were showing good signs in pre-season last year and played well when given a chance over the year.

Surey you have enough payers of Chamberlain's ilk already .

He's not going to want to sit on the bench i would"t have thought.

£70 m for Keita seems well steep to me.

Who knows what klopps plans are ? I imagine as he is so versatile that is a major attraction...abd only 23 with 6 years premiership and champions league experience
Be a very good addition to the squad

And every fee is to steep now...ive given up caring tbh as it does mot effect me 1 bit... never comes back to the fans so spend away

£20-25m for an English player of Ox's ability is a great price, worth picking up when you get the chance.

Klopp has said recently that we'll be using a few different formations this season and if we have injuries like we did last season then he'd definitely get game time. He won't be a guaranteed starter, but then I can't think of a top six club where he would. Plus, he'll start during AFCON as we'll lose Salah and Mane!

Oh i don't doubt he's an excellent player & if the price quoted is for real then he's going to be an excellent buy for someone.

I just can't see it being Liverpool.

Sorry I didn't see this you could have had mine, the boot room is great fun and the Anny road is a decent stand - enjoy.

Last year of his contract hence the lower price and he has turned down a new one
What makes you think not Liverpool ?

I don't mean this to be a negative. Stay outside and soak up as much of the atmosphere as possible. Sure you can get a drink and some food in the hospitality but it just isn't the same.

Oh and for me, the best chippy is the Sing Fong.

I'd rather we didn't sign the Ox. I'd rather overpay and go back for Virgil or pay what they want for Keita.

We don't need squad depth players. We need first 11 players where our current first 11 then give us the depth.

Wijnaldum gives us everything Ox will and with Coutinho moving into the middle I'd rather we bought a more explosive player like Keita where then it's a fight between Can and Henderson for the depth in the 3rd midfield position.

He's a southern boy & i think he's going to find it hard to be a regular starter with the abundance of midfield talent that you have at Liverpool.

With Henderson, wind jam , Firminho, Coutinho, Salah, Lallana & Mane i'm finding it hard to see where he would fit in.

He is not going to be a regular starter at any of the top six but he would at Everton & they certainly look like they are showing great ambition to muscle in of the premiership elite.

If he comes purely as a squad filler then he may as well stay at Arsenal.

Seems absolute madness that we are talking about a squad filler @ £25M
