It's worth remembering that when Spurs signed Dele Alli from MK Dons he wasn't highly regarded and many Spurs fans were disappointed and also wishing they'd signed someone bigger or more experienced. Ask them now if they'd sell him to anyone and they'll likely be quite upset with you at the question. I'm sure Robertson was scouted multiple times as well as recordings of every match he played it available from the PL or Sky and opta stats for his whole first team career. If Klopp believes he can do the job then I'm happy to let him convince us himself.

Exactly that. I trust Klopp's judgment over that of anyone in here (no offence intended). Let's just wait and see.

I'm really not comfortable with players using to force through moves line this either, but then this is the world of football where so few things come attached with morals.

He should just put in a transfer request, however he would have to forego his 'loyalty' bonus.

FSG at their optimum here. Sell Coutinho at a huge profit. Blag we were in for x y and z in a letter to the fans and then have Klopp come out and say Henderson back is like a new signing....
Why do you even bother with Football mate?

It just always seems like you are ready to see the negative in everything.

We all spend lots of money going to see the club etc but its like you must resent every penny.

The signs are there that FSG have woken up and are trying to back the manager at least.

Chill out and if we still haven't signed anyone but Sept 1st have a meltdown then if it makes you feel better.
I know one day these Americans will have sold up and left. I'll still be there. Every decision they make is financially motivated imo. Success is a secondary concern.

We've known all along it was 70 million pounds for Keita but we've been passing around. As for the Virgil stuff, indefensible.

You have to wonder what our star players are thinking. Surely?

Apparently there is no such thing as an official transfer request. A player can ask to leave but that's about it and it seems that's what VVD has done.

You are joking aren't you? Alli was one of the hottest prospects out there...the only surprise was how fast he was able to progress.

Since when has the truth got anything to do with this? Also the Hull lad has played and failed in the premiership.

Klopp is a great coach, but I'm sure there's a saying about what you can't polish.

I'm just hoping Coutinho doesn't get any ideas off Virgil. I just can't see how we are going to keep hold of Coutinho. It's not like we have the experience of Utd. They kept hold of Ronaldo and what they did with De Gea was a masterstroke.

Being the apotheosis of The Turd Fan, I am sure you know the answer to that.

Only if they have as negative a thought process as you seem to do sometimes. Every club owner has to be financially motivated. Money first, success after that. Or would you prefer the Peter Ridsdale method and see us over reaching ourselves, getting bankrupted and slipping down the leagues?

Pacey attacking mid - Salah
Commanding CB - VvD
Box to box midfielder - Keita
A proper LB to compete with Milner - Robertson

We have lost no one and are bringing in quality signings smile

Peter Risdale. You'll find football has moved on considerably since.

There's a world of a difference between over reaching ourselves and having made a profit in transfer dealings window after window.

Champions League football, record tv money, bigger stadium, one of the best coaches in the world, profit after profit in the last 3 seasons windows...

Klopp at the end of the season stated all the targets had been identified etc. Not giving him a proper pre season because our transfer team is a farce and we're low balling offers when we've been told what he'd cost (Keita) or reinventing transfers and planning on telling the selling club how much we've bought their star player for (Virgil) is something special.

Still fill your boots on the failure from Hull.

Or some bloke that's been bounced around a few clubs in quick succession, and a defender from a club that's just been relegated?

You haven't signed Dick Van Dyke or Keita yet...

Done well at Basle.
Signed by Chelsea where he didn't get really get a chance like some players don't.
Loaned to Fiorentina as Cuadrado went the other way and he impressed.
Fiorentina wanted him to stay there but he chose not to and went to Roma where his stats are quite good.
See how he does in the prem this season.

I'll be gutted if we don't sign VvD but Sakho will be given a second chance.
If we don't sign Keita we have Henderson/ Can/ Wijnaldum/ Lallana/ Coutinho all to play in the middle three.
He brings depth and class if we do sign him.
He's Klopp's choice so I don't think there will be a 2nd choice mdfielder who we will go for.

With "fans" like RT I don't even know why people try to WUM here! I'm predicting relegation next season now based on that excellent summary of this summer... cry

Yes fans like RT that wanted Klopp whilst others kept saying he was out of our league.

I'm not the one that reinvented football transfers then was forced to write a grovelling apology. Or banned from signing any kids because of our antics.

We've scraped 4th. Our squad was threadbare. To improve it we need new first 11 players. So far we have Salah and Barcelona courting Coutinho with an opening bid of 72 million. If that is the exchange then we're weaker for it.

As for the ex Hull reject. Give over, he'd do well to get a game at Huddersfield or Palace never mind compete to be first choice left back at a team with ambitions to challenge for the title.

I'll believe Keita and VvD if they happen though my instincts say we'll more likely lose Sakho, Countinho, Moreno and a few other squad fillers like Stewart and at the end of it all we'll still be in a positive transfer spend.

At least Coutinho isn't training on his own. Though regardless of what Klopp says, I think FSG will sell at c85million.
