Jenas is a Spurs fan and this over influences his opinions making him redundant as pundit.
It's ok for Spurs to force Rose to make a grovelling apology and state that Ali isn't for sale at any price. Levy is the most ferocious negotiator in football so why can't Liverpool be allowed to get their best deal.

Makes me wonder how much they really paid for Suarez, and whether they're still paying it.
Is Sturridge fit by the way?
If he is, my team would be
Mignolet
Arnold Matip Lovren Milner
Salah Can Henderson Mane
Firmino Sturridge
It's obvious they're going to sit back and try and score on the counter and set piece. Play Firmino in the hole and have Henderson and Can play to their strengths as more traditional central midfielders that can do a bit of everything.

I know...it's like all the Liverpool pundits that were very vociferous in saying that it was perfectly fine for VVD to force through a move but sound like complete idiots when they call out Barca and Coutinho for exactly the same thing. Jenas is pretty much the only former Spurs player involved in the media whereas we have to listen to fking loads of ex-Liverpool players. Gets tiresome doesn't it?

All? I think was 2 players, and both of them did the usual backtracking/ "we didn't mean it that way" from what I understood? Mirror reporting the '118m' was actually 80m staggered over 5 (FIVE, yes count them) years!!!11! 16m up front in other words! Plus a load of completely unrealistic add ons including CL wins and Phil winning the Ballon!
Jesus titty fking Christ.
I hope Liverpool continue to tell them to shove it.
Either way, both parties are showing that are not mugs when it comes to negotiating this deal. There are some well versed advanced situational negotiation tactics taking place that are very easy to recognise for anyone that's had to negotiate a deal between two major businesses.
At this late stage of the transfer window we'd be better off keeping Phil and offering him the promise of a sale next summer based upon a suitable bid.
When we did this with Suarez he had a wonderful season and was head and shoulders above any other player in the premier league and I believe his stats are still unrivalled:
- 31 goals from 31 starts
- Most goals in a PL season, equalling Shearer and Ronaldo
- Fastest 20 goals in PL history
- 1st PL player to score 3 hat tricks against the same team
- 1st PL player to score 10 goals in a single month
It's difficult to imagine a player repeating these feats in the premier league again. Hopefully this situation brings the best out of Phil this season and benefits Liverpool in a similar vein to the Suarez season.

I like Jenas and usually find myself agreeing with most of the stuff he says. He comes across as a likeable person. I'm sitting on the fence with this one.
It is getting bad that players are now able to dig their heels in and force a club to sell them on. Costa at the moment is making a complete fool of himself having tantrums to force his way out of Chelsea. VVD got all stroppy at Celtic and pushed for a move. He's doing the same again which doesn't sit well with me. He was happy to sign a new long term deal last year with a huge wage increase.
I see the Coutinho situation just a little different. It will possibly be a once in a lifetime chance to sign for Barcelona. As a professional footballer I can understand why he is desperate to go.
£114m is a lot of money to invest back into the side.

No idea how true this is....
Liverpool have held secret meetings with Barcelona over a deal for Philippe Coutinho and want £137m for their talisman.
That’s the blockbuster claim of Daily Record and Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles.
Speaking on The Transfer Window podcast, he explained: “Coutinho is being priced at €150m (£137) by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are asking pretty much the same for Ousmane Dembele.

I think that's the most likely case given their debt structure and ageing team.

This, really. OR we hold out for a "stupidly enormous never-likely-to-happen-for-him-again" sum and push him out of the door we we get it.Either way, both parties are showing that are not mugs when it comes to negotiating this deal. The transaction between Liverpool and Barcelona isn't too far from normal. It's normal for instalments and add on clauses. They are a bit too much this time. It's not a rip off deal like some people are saying.
