Going by your logic, no team would ever sign a player from a team that is behind them in the league?? Robertson looks like at least a very handy addition to our squad....I reckon, that the scouting team might have actually had a look at him before we took a punt on him? Hoping you can eat some tasty humble pie after all the abuse you gave for signing him!
I wanted us to sign a player who has experience at playing at the top level, someone who could help add composure and organisation to our defence having played in teams that had a good defence. I wanted us to sign someone proven.

There's no humble pie to be eaten, Robertson isn't the type of full back I wanted at the club, I would have been ok with his signing if he'd come in as one of 2 full backs, alongside the type of player I described.

And there is a big difference between signing a player from a team that is behind them in the league and a player that played his part in getting his team relegated.

Meanwhile as deadline day approaches, still nothing on transfers....

Positive in tone as ever.

Seriously fella - were 3 games in, unbeaten in 3, clean sheet against a major bogey team, CL qualifier tonight have possibly 50 games left and 9 months - for the benefit of everyone on here to make it a more enjoyable forum is it so hard for you to moderate your tone so as not to make it seem that supporting Liverpool is so unenjoyable and broken?

If your glass is half empty, pour it into a smaller glass.
RT is positive. Anything good that happens is purely a result of Klopp. Which is a good thing - since he supports the manager it will stop him wanting the team to lose this time.

Is the fact we haven't heard of any hastily arranged press conferences over in Barcelona scheduled for later this week, means Coutinho is actually staying? scratchchin

They arrange press conferences whether they've signed the player or not!

Yep - I had a look and he had a fair bit of merch there with his name etc as well as one of those signed shirts for way too much....

He wasn't in the match programme at all apart from his name twice in the stats page and a Nivea advert.

Also in Hospitality Alan Kennedy was the ex player and the q&a between him and the Mc actually said 'we won't discuss the current player transfer rumour'...

Yep all the big posters on the ground and in the windows did not have him in any, where as they normally do ....

Now is this because of how he is acting or because he is off...makes me think the latter tbh (if right price comes in and structured right)

I'm pretty convinced he is off and it's all about deal structure.
And agreeing terms with replacment(s)

Quite often it gets into a situation like a house sale chain with numerous deals needing to be lined up.

More than likely we will get the stty end of the stick and we will have endless posts about FSG.

He wasn't in the programme, nor on any of the big banners or the paste ups in the windows.

It's now no secret that he wants to leave and is refusing to train or play until he gets his wish. Of course this will change once the window closes but whether he'll put the performances in, I'm not sure.

I also don't think it's any secret that FSG will sell him if Barca came in with the right price structured the right way. £100 million up front with 20 million in realistic add ons and I reckon he's gone.

Still does not excuse that lack of transfers coming in to the club.

I think Klopp is a very talented manager who could have the pick of teams across Europe. Do you think that is the same of Roy, Dalglish or Rodgers?

If you guys are right, would you be happy to see Rakitic coming the other way? Could he by the type of creative midfielder we need even though he was benched a lot of last season due to loss of form.

They just bid around £108 plus add ons and FSG refused? They then gave us till last night to consider the offer again. I dont think they will sell, its a world cup season so he needs to be playing, and from what i read a give us another season agreement was what Klopp and FSG thought they had in place. Naturally Barca and his agent had other ideas hence pushing for the move.

If that offer had come in June however i think FSG would have cashed in allowing Klopp time to find a replacement.

As for lack of transfers we dont know the real reasons, can just speculate why we didnt go to Ajax when VVD was off and pay £42m for a new centre back. Seems an FSG kinda player that, young high sell on value.

What price should we sell then.
I think given the market and the timing of all of this
120 million up front and we would be mad to refuse it.

PC needs a new agent whatever - failure to put in a buy out clause in the contract is gross dereliction of duty.

some idiots will boo, as with all teams

I don't see why anyone would blame him wanting to go to Barcelona , or even handing in a request. Most would do the same, and who knows if a similar opportunity will arise next year or after.

What is not acceptable is refusing to train or play - but no one here really knows the truth on that

No you cant blame him but its the last bit its pretty obvious he has and thats what is hard for a fan to take. I guess it will depend on the attitude HE shows on his return?
