You don't think Herrera would get into that midfield? fk me
Except Mane there's no Liverpool player who would get anywhere near United's starting 11.
I don't think Herrera would 'walk' into our first team no.Except Mane there's no Liverpool player who would get anywhere near United's starting 11.
He would definitely improve the squad which means he would probably get in the side as of last weekend.
And as for the rest then that's fair enough. I mean you have had a couple of decent games so you must feel great being back after a few years in the doldrums, relatively. As a long term LFC supporter I can empathise with how it must have felt.
I came on here at the beginning of last season and said how crap you were at the back and that it would cost you and you guys slated the st out of me, quoting some German kids mag that Karius was the second best keeper in the BL. Look how that turned out? Still zero improvement at the back as showed against Watford.
Now that United have hopefully sorted out their problems up top I see no position that i'd favour a Liverpool player.

So you'd take Emre Can or Henderson over Herrera? Let's leave it there.

If you actually read what I posted then I did say he would probably get in last weekend, with the caveat that that team is missing two nailed on starters out of three.I came on here at the beginning of last season and said how crap you were at the back and that it would cost you and you guys slated the st out of me, quoting some German kids mag that Karius was the second best keeper in the BL. However if you just want an argument then fair enough - you keep wking yourself off after a decent couple of matches.

Don't want an argument at all. Was just commenting on your comment about Herrera.

Herrera is not a number 10 for starters.

I said he wouldn't get in out "first" midfield 3 but he would stand a chance in the midfield picked at the weekend. I never mentioned Number 10.
You may disagree with my assessment of the first 11 but it isn't worthy of a couple of ROFLs
Anyone seen Henderson or Wijnaldum play so far?
As for our midfield 3. Without Lallana or Coutinho in whatever combination, we have no creativity.
Can is the only one of the 3 we have playing that is anything other than a squad filler. Henderson, Wijnaldum and Milner will all have good games, but ultimately they are lacking imo.
Wednesday is a huge game for us. I'm presuming Coutinho will still have his back injury.
Mignolet
Arnold Matip Lovren Robertson
Can Henderson Milner
Salah Firmino Mane
Wijnaldum just doesn't get in a starting 11 on current form. And from what I saw of Sturridge on Saturday, he really shouldn't be starting either.

He has something about him doesn't he?
Hopefully he stays injury free and when he gets his chance he takes it.
I would like to see him get a few games, Maybe he could be the midfield enforcer we need, he seems to have a good football brain the games I have seen him in.Hopefully he stays injury free and when he gets his chance he takes it.

Here's a question for everyone.
If we win a cup/ get top 4 this season will people still feel let down by FSG, or will they say they got it wrong on us "having" to sign anyone now (assuming no more transfers)?
This summer was a real opportunity to take a big step forward. To make a real statement of intent. I have always said that we have the basis of a very good team but just lacked a couple of real key quality players that could bring experience and leadership. Specifically CB and CM. The key spine of any team. If we win a cup/ get top 4 this season will people still feel let down by FSG, or will they say they got it wrong on us "having" to sign anyone now (assuming no more transfers)?
The opportunity, to take a decent team and potentially make them a great team capable of challenging for the title again, could well have been missed. We have taken steps but they are small. The next 10 days will be huge and will likely decide if it will be another deja vu season, again.
Other teams have had quiet transfer periods too. I'm not going to slag off FSG without any facts.
And I'm not going to create or believe any rumours to justify slagging them off either, like some people do. No point in complaining until after its closed - griping about it now won't help either way.

The VVD deal was a big fk up and FSG/LFC have to take the blame for that. Signing VVD would have been massive for us. Unless they pull that one out of the bag at the eleventh hour I'll consider this summers transfers a disappointment.
I think top three (unlikely) and a cup this season to be a success. Anything less and I'll wonder what could have been had we had a better summer transfer window!

It's not about slagging off FSG. It's simply about stating the facts. Benitez style. This would still represent a missed opportunity if nothing changes in the next 10 days.
What facts? Seems to me there are very few facts, though. And some here are saying the facts we DO know (like FSG saying PC isn't for sale) aren't true anyway. No-one here knows what is going on at the club and who/what is being worked on, OR if nothing at all is being done. And grumbling about a situation which isn't yet over seems pointless to me. Seems to me people are more upset that the club doesn't come out and announce who they're chasing and what they're willing to pay and how long they think the negotiations might take - and if those are unsuccessful, who they have as other targets. Which will never happen, obviously.

Surely the time to moan is after the results are in - does it matter who we sign if we play well, win a few and compete in and around the top and in the cups?We could sign my mum as playmaker and if we play good stuff and get up nr the top and progress in the champions league then I will be happy
