Lot of butt hurt in here over this but I think it was inevitable tbh. We've had two decent seasons which means some of the players will have already been getting ideas plus transfer and wage bills have gone mental this year so even average players will have been thinking about cashing in.
Yes what Rose did was unacceptable but I think this has been building for a while and looking at it from an unbiased viewpoint, I can't entirely disagree with some of his points, even if he made them inappropriately. He is on £65k a week, a lot of money to you and me but in his circle which is what counts that's peanuts, there are mid table teams who would pay more than that.
Unlike some Spurs fans (no names mentioned ) I'm a realist and don't think we have the best 11 in the league. if we did we'd have come first last season. Unfortunately it looks like even some of our team are starting to believe the hype. If we do have the best 11 then we need to pay them accordingly and unfortunately that's dictated by the rest of the market right now.
Spurs can't or won't do that so we either face up to that fact and try to make appropriate moves to mitigate the fact that we are likely to loose some players or we can stick our head in the sand and talk bks about loyalty to the club. If someone who was worse than you at your job was getting paid a lot more, wouldn't you be miffed? If someone offered to triple your salary would you turn it down? We've punched above our weight due to a decent manager and managing to pull together a decent squad for peanuts but there was no way that was going to last forever, there is too much money involved in this game for that.

I know I have brought this up before but you make enough revenue now to pay a lot more than you do - keeping your wages where they are now is going to tear your very good team apart - forget whether the money 'might' end, that might be 5 10 20 years away - you cannot stand still with wages and expect to keep challenging as your team will get ripped apart - why play for 100k a week when you can get 180k a week doing the same thing wearing a different T SHIRT....
You have the money and will have the money from new stadium, commercial deals and tv money to pay a lot more than you currently do - its Rose who is obviously off and it wont be long till Ali gets his head turned with a big offer....

Why thank you kind sir.We are a victim of our own success in a way. We've managed to be competitive with the big spenders with a fraction of the budget which is a great achievement but the disparity has been noticed now. If you are languishing in mid-table it's easier to say we pay you less because you aren't as good but we've made a strong challenge for the league title two years in a row now and we've been in the CL (albeit briefly ) so we can't use that excuse anymore.
Kane, Ali, Erikssen et all are brilliant either through good development or some astute buying. We've made them into superstars which is great but realistically we've been a bit lucky and our team is far too good for the money we've spent. In the current climate there is no way they should be playing for us for "only" £100k a week when they could easily triple that.
Now more than ever football is a game about money, I can't say I'm entirely pleased about that as it will cause a bigger and bigger rift between rich clubs and those that aren't as well off and players will invariably chase the money. I'll support Spurs whatever happens but if we want to continue to play with the big boys it's time to put up or shut-up.
Spurs could and almost certainly will set the record for the highest ever attendance at a top division match. Probably in their first home game against Chelsea.
The current top flight attendance record is 83,260, set by Manchester United in 1948 against Arsenal at Maine Road, when they used City's ground as a temporary home while Old Trafford was reconstructed following damage from World War II.
Spurs got 85,512 against Leverkusen last season.

I didnt think the whole of Wembley was open ? could be wrong though? was it not capped at 60ish or something ? I'm hoping there's a Spurs mutiny simply to deflect attention from Chelsea who will probably have their own mutiny any time soon.
There is whispers of this . Player power is becoming outrageous The only thing I see that he's done wrong is to agree to a contract that he clearly isn't happy with.
Rose has come out with an apology.
It's things like this that just highlight how thick footballers are.
In a World Cup year he's made a statement like that while playing for a team/manager that has marginalised other players if you aren't all on the same page.
I wonder how many games he'll play this year?

That's not really the case though. Swiss Ramble did an excellent article on Wages v Revenue and demonstrated that Spurs pay the same ratio or more than the rest of the league. Something like:You have the money and will have the money from new stadium, commercial deals and tv money to pay a lot more than you currently do - its Rose who is obviously off and it wont be long till Ali gets his head turned with a big offer....
Spurs 51%
Arsenal 50%
Liverpool 55%
United 48%
Citeh 52%
Chelsea 68% (the obvious anomaly)
Rose seems to want his wage doubled. So will the rest of the squad. If everyone got a 50% pay rise we'd suddenly be paying 75% of our revenue out in wages - completely unsustainable. Sure WBA might pay him £130k a week, but the majority of players in the squad and therefore the average player wage at the club will be a lot lower. So until Spurs can increase their revenue (which is the whole point of the new stadium) it's unrealistic to expect everyone to get bumper new deals.

Yes base without the extra 100m tv revenue no doubt, new commercial deals you no doubt have coming in etc etc
And we will no doubt see a raft of new contracts offered again this season. But surely it's wise to wait until you know your revenue before committing to expenses, no?

Not hard to forecast tv money when a contract is signed at x for x number of years But surely it's wise to wait until you know your revenue before committing to expenses, no?
