I know I have brought this up before but you make enough revenue now to pay a lot more than you do - keeping your wages where they are now is going to tear your very good team apart - forget whether the money 'might' end, that might be 5 10 20 years away - you cannot stand still with wages and expect to keep challenging as your team will get ripped apart - why play for 100k a week when you can get 180k a week doing the same thing wearing a different T SHIRT....
You have the money and will have the money from new stadium, commercial deals and tv money to pay a lot more than you currently do - its Rose who is obviously off and it wont be long till Ali gets his head turned with a big offer....
That's not really the case though. Swiss Ramble did an excellent article on Wages v Revenue and demonstrated that Spurs pay the same ratio or more than the rest of the league. Something like:You have the money and will have the money from new stadium, commercial deals and tv money to pay a lot more than you currently do - its Rose who is obviously off and it wont be long till Ali gets his head turned with a big offer....
Spurs 51%
Arsenal 50%
Liverpool 55%
United 48%
Citeh 52%
Chelsea 68% (the obvious anomaly)
Rose seems to want his wage doubled. So will the rest of the squad. If everyone got a 50% pay rise we'd suddenly be paying 75% of our revenue out in wages - completely unsustainable. Sure WBA might pay him £130k a week, but the majority of players in the squad and therefore the average player wage at the club will be a lot lower. So until Spurs can increase their revenue (which is the whole point of the new stadium) it's unrealistic to expect everyone to get bumper new deals.

And we will no doubt see a raft of new contracts offered again this season.
But surely it's wise to wait until you know your revenue before committing to expenses, no?
Not hard to forecast tv money when a contract is signed at x for x number of years But surely it's wise to wait until you know your revenue before committing to expenses, no?
I was just hoping this was the kinda scene from the Spurs Press officer yesterday when phoning the Sun

Coutinho doesn't have a release clause in his contract, he's only recently signed a four year deal and Liverpool are adamant he isn't going anywhere. Still at least the news takes the pressure of us for a change.
However if Barca come in with deals of £100m+ for either player I'm not sure who would blink first, Spurs or Liverpool.
I never thought I'd say this as we've done well out of selling our players overseas but I wish just for this season the rich bds would ps off and leave us alone.

Coutinho transfer request confirmed after all. I suspect the Liverpool thread is about to go in to meltdown.
