Some context is required really. Conte wanted to play the team who were most likely to be playing at Wembley next weekend. That team will not include JT. So, he was never going to be able to start and be taken off after 86 minutes like some people are suggesting . I guess they could have brought him on and then subbed him but that would have been a little disrepectful.

What happened was a compromise and fitted in with the simple fact the match was a dead rubber.. OK - it's not ideal and it's open to ridicule but it was what it was...

It's easy for the Spuds fans to criticise because, let's face it, they are never going to have a player who has won half of what Terry has with Chelsea so who can blame them for not understanding.

Terry hasn't won half of what he has celebrated with Chelsea!

As opposed to Gerrard, who just hasn't won half as much!

Ledley King, spent his entire career at spurs.
A good player, but so injury prone, no one else would have him.
Nonsense, had plenty of opportunities to leave.

He'd be the first person to admit he'd never have been able to join a top level club due to a little issue called 'The Medical'.

I really don't see what the problem with John Terry's departure is.

Meaningless game, with frankly little more than the status of pre-season friendly. Sunderland were in on it & happy. Nobody was being disrespected. Why not? Some people are just all too serious about life.
What if a penalty had been awarded to Sunderland in the 26th minute ?

Would the penalty taker be expected to drill the penalty into touch for a throw-in ?

I can understand the big JT thing but surely there was a better way to do it

Yes, that's exactly what would have happened. The deal was agreed.
Works both ways. If we'd got a pen in the 26th minute, we'd have to miss it too.
Lucky JT didn't break his leg after 2 mins, because he'd have to have played on until minute 26 as per the agreement.

The problem lies with the fact that it's natural behaviour for most people to dislike like winners but love a gallant loser, maybe you could call it jealousy. Understandable really, as I, myself have always hated Utd (especially during periods of their success).... Seems a mystery then why Chelsea sing about hating Tottenham

A few people had a bet on his departure time, that's what the problem is.

It concerns me greatly in society that everything that happens in life nowadays has to have a 'bet' involved. These 'few people' must have some serious gambling addiction to even think of this as a possibility to get a bet on, albeit offered out by the 'bookies' .... were they not happy with the 'two flies up the wall scenario ? 'rolleyes

PL victory parade has been cancelled, understandably. Although the last few days have reminded us there are far more important things than football, I can't help but wonder how it will affect the game on Saturday.

I love a gallant winner as well, but not an arrogant winner - there is nothing worse to my mind ...

Yes, Fabregas is going to parade his two league medals down the Gooner end.

Just to help you with my previous post I referred to medals. Those are things you get for winning trophies.
