Was at the game. Any team will struggle with two of their star players out, especially so us; Cante is crucial. HO looked ok, but lost the ball too easily. Not a great game, thank god the bars were easy to reach biggrin Lets see how the real season shapes up!

What is the general opinion on the CFC loan policy?
I am starting to get slightly frustrated with the amount of players going out on loan ever year, may be around 40 players this year.
I understand for young players who the club needs to see if they have what it takes, but what is the point in giving Eduardo a new one-year contract and then sending him to Vitesse for the year. Plus they then sign Rob Green.
Also, players like Michael Hector, Kenneth Omeruo etc. At what point do we need to give in and just sell them.
I wouldn't mind as much if more young players got a chance but even the good ones (Loftus-cheek etc.) don't even get much of a look-in.
I'd rather we sent 15-20 players on loan and gave the best ones an honest chance at first team football.

You'd have thought that he'd be man enough to have a face to face conversation with the manager, even if only to tell him that he wants out.

"Highly paid premiership footballer appearing to behave badly" is hardly a shock though I suppose...

Being honest I won't miss Courtois at all. He has not kicked on like he should have done in the last 2 seasons. After his first season he was on a par with De Gea who is now streets ahead.

Constantly running his mouth off in interviews and seemingly ungrateful for the fact we sold a club legend to keep him. Don't let the door hit you on your way out!

I've never been that convinced by Coutois and I think the goalkeeper role has moved on and passed him by a bit. The modern expectation of a goalkeeper is they are just as capable with their feet as with their hands and Tibo is terrible with his passing range (Pass the ball back to him and it's a hoof up field and, more than likely, a throw-in to the opposition).

Ederson and Allison are the blueprint from now on. If we can find someone in their mould then I will be happy..

I'm not sure you're going to find that in Oblak then, if the rumours that you're going to pay his £90m release are true. From what I've seen he's just a better version of Courtois - excellent shot stopper, commands his area very well, but his distribution is probably his weak point.

Prefer the Kepa Arrizabalaga rumour myself. Would be a great buy and Sarri is an admirer.

Bulka has great potential. It's a shame he's not another couple of seasons down the line in his development.

Oblak is a better shot stopper, Alisson is better at distribution (and not that much worse with shot stopping tbf).

Alisson works well with systems like Peps or Klopps. Oblak would work well with Mourinho.

I think that would be a good move for us whilst hopefully shipping out Drinkwater and Baka.

This seems to be gathering pace. But it will have to be a world record fee for a goalkeeper.
