Maybe Conte has a specific role for him in his 'system'. I think everyone was amazed at the introduction of Moses and Alonso, both whose career's were going nowhere - after a loan period at Stoke just to get him off the wage bill I couldn't see Moses playing a major role in a title winning side but fortunately proved most wrong. Lets just see and trust in Antonio, he knows what he's doing (I hope !) smile
Well, one of the roles that Oxocube can play - although he whinges about it - is right wing back. And we do need cover ( or someone better) in that role.

I'd be happy if the deal comes off.
Surely Liverpool already have plenty of decent midfielders, why would he want to go there and likely sit on the bench?

I agree plus our bench is at least 2-3 degrees warmer.

The word is he chose them over us because they play attacking football. Fair enough. If he came to us, he'd need to learn to play winning football, so he'd be starting from scratch.

It's that kind of winning mentality that gets you points against Burnley.

This is going to be a nervy 24 hours. If we fail to land anyone, someone at the club has screwed up big time

Lol

Maybe a sign Liverpool are selling Coutinho after all? I didn't rate Ox, so glad they haven't spent £40mil on him

Hopefully Emenalo will get canned.

Is it so desperate we buy someone?

Let's say we play a weakened team in the Champions League. Our squad is still good enough to win the Premier League. Is that so bad?

If we had Oxlade last week I'm not entirely sure who I'd have dropped against Everton.

We've bought three decent players this window. Today being the last day of the sales should we rush out and buy any old st or should we stay at home with our credit card securely locked up?

Battles lost on the way to winning the war. No issue with that. 5 PL titles won.

Went to community shield but haven't managed to get to any other games so far. But got tickets this morning for Forest and Qarrierbag.

Plus, I'm not sure a game ruined by one of the weakest red cards you'll see really counts. The way we came back in the second half, despite having 9 players for a good proportion of it, demonstrates that we'e a long way from disaster.

I thought it was a red card. I think there have been worse tackles since then (Mark Noble) that haven't even got a yellow, but it was still a red card offence.

The issue is with the CL looming, will the squad cope with both competitions? I'm not sure. It's why I think loaning out Zouma/Loftus Cheek and getting rid of Chalobah was crazy.

Exactly, it's not that we haven't got a good enough starting 11. It's if a few get injured then the depth of quality/size of squad becomes an issue.

We definitely got lucky with regards to injuries and suspensions last year, but my worry is the board thinks the same will happen again. Looking at our bench this season should be enough to show anyone that we don't have the depth to mount an assault on four fronts.

However, latest reports are we've agreed a £23 million fee with Tornio for RWB Zappacosta, who must be worth it for the name alone

Odds on us signing Drinkwater, Mahrez and Barkley before the deadline shorten to 7/1.......

https://www.footballfancast.com/football-odds/odds...

The Barkley move doesn't make much sense to me. He's injured, and would presumably be cheaper in the January window as he'll be closer to being out of contract.

But, I know nothing [/Manuel]

Mahrez is a weird one - he's said he's leaving, is a very good player, yet no one seems to have put in a bid for him?

That, added to the fact that he's crap in 90% of games. He's a poor man's Joe Cole.

Zappacosta close to being signed according to this:

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11013...

and it's all that's being talked about on Chelsea Chat.

Right wing back.

I love the last day of the transfer window. You work yourself up into a tizzy, and then nothing happens smile
