Jose won’t have to wait long.
Absolute bks he was spouting at the end. Critical of playing Mount and Abraham when the former played pretty well, Tammy a bit up and down. Best to play those who deserve it he said...just like the last time he was here and he played the same underpeforming players week in week out. Gave RLC the 'run of games' spiel and dumped him after 45 mins.

Kante and Rudiger should make a big difference to us defensively so let's hope they're ready for 90 mins soon and go from there.

Ah well , down to earth with bit of a bump!

Going forward it looked sharp, fast & direct. Mount, Pedro & Emerson looked good moving forward. Kovacic looked far better than last year. Christensen looked sound. Tammy looked Ok, but clearly room for improvement, if that chance after 5-6 mins had gone in would have done wonders for him. Barkley at times good, other times gave the ball away too cheaply, Jorghinio, hmmm, frankly I think he is a liability playing anywhere near the defence. Zouma had a mare, he just never seems comfortable with the ball at his feet, every pass seems so deliberate.

Rudiger for Zouma, Kante back then I'll form a view.

Can't believe we got beat by 4 ! Definitely didn't deserve that. For an hour we were by far the better team,..
It was just one of those games that could have been 1-1 1-2 or ... 4-0. It all got away from you. You started well but once you went one down United were your equals (not sure which hour you are talking about) and in the second half they went up another gear.

No biggie for either team really though, it's only the first game of the season. And it was good open game too.

Yet another bad start but then when you have a line up of second rate players what do u expect. Zouma.......what is he doing playing in a Premier league team for a start, let alone back at Chelsea. Chelsea will be lucky to finish in the top 5 this year, lucky. The days of a rock solid defence have gone. A strong midfield and big guy up front...all gone. This chelsea is a shadow of its former self and Lamps will regret coming in too soon before the transfer ban is lifted. He should have stayed at Derby just as JT has stayed at Villa to settle into coaching and learn.

Its going to be a long and painfull season.

Even before a goal was kicked yesterday I was taking this season as one of Frank and his coaching team looking at and assessing the players he has. We've got a nucleus of a good young team which bodes well for the future. Realistically, with the loss of Eden I don't think we'll finish in the top 4, but I'm hoping for a cup and seeing progression as the season goes on.

Plus, we've got the likes of CHO, RLC, Willian, James to come back.

I think Dave might need to move to CB from now on, once Reece James if fit. Dave is a good defender but you need to have pace at WB these days. Zouma was worrying yesterday, but I won't judge him on that one performance as he was good for Everton last season.

The first hour we looked the stronger and everyone was 'on it' chasing, pressing forcing mistakes when utd tried to play out. But not taking advantage by converting chances was definitely the diffence. Utd were clinical in their finishing, we were not. I think the stats said 18 attempts on goal but goals win games, not stats unfortunately. Both teams looked like completely new teams & will no doubt take time to get comfortable with their style of play. Great to see so many youngsters out there doing well though. Mount looked particularly good and he couldn't have a better mentor than Frank.

Big game in 5 hehe Given we're almost certainly getting a shoeing, I guess we don't care much.... Hope I'm wrong. I care more about LCFC this weekend...

Well this is going better than expected. Perhaps with the goal we deserved, we'll be able to keep hold of this - lets see what happens when they turn the screw later in the match. Pedro looking excellent, as is Kante & Pulisic

The slightly fat Chelsea fans next to me in pub bhes for the first 35 mins, and are now explaining the capabilities of each player. I think ‘Super’ Frank needs these guys in his setup. I really hope Liverpool turn it around, but meh, they should both lose.

Missed the first half as had been helping my brother move today.

As per Sunday, massive positives to take out of the game having gone toe to toe with a top side tonight. Kante really is an incredible player, back to his best in his first start for months...great to have him back!!

I take from this game that Chelsea are going to be much better than many predict.. And Liverpool potentially much more fragile. Chelsea sliced them open at times and had they had more incisive front men could have had another couple of goals.
