Drinkwater is apparently at Cobham now. Either way, it is worrying that so many decent but not world class players have turned us down. Does make me wonder what it going on behind the scenes.

In the last 24hrs turned down by ox, llorente and barkley... now that chelsea arent the only only club throwing silly money about has the novelty worn off with players switiching back to the more traditional bigger clubs?

I'd think it's more that they realise that they're being bought in as squad players and don't have the balls to want to fight for a first team place.

I'd think it's more that they realise that they're being bought in as squad players and don't have the balls to want to fight for a first team place.

I think it comes down to two things. Not wanting to sit on the bench for most of the season and also knowing that Conte is likely to be fired either in the course of the season or next summer and so they have no idea who (manager) they'll be playing for in a year or two.

Surely that's true of any prem team? Do badly and you'll be sacked (Wenger being the obvious exception, although it depends on your definition of 'badly') / do well and someone else will offer you a job
