You looked good yesterday, our toughest test so far for sure.

Even on current form I'd back you in a head to head against Utd Arsenal or Spurs, so I'd agree you'll be a strong contender for top 4, maybe even 3rd.
I agree. Though it's a long season and there's a chance the Chelsea squad are just enjoying the new manager honeymoon period. Will be interesting to see what happens in the second half of the season. Chelsea have a small squad now and the some of the younger players are already showing signs of tiredness.

Good game for those who need minutes tonight.

CHO and Reece James in particular. Let's hope they have been rushed back too soon ala Emerson....

I think the squad is pretty big actually mainly due to Franks inclusive selections of our young players, effectively making more senior players (Giroud,Pedro, Barkley, Batshuyai etc) squad players. We should now see CHO, RLC, Reece James, all becoming available too. Actually leaves us with healthy competition for places.
We've had the worst crop of injuries I can remember at Chelsea in modern times, generally our medical staff are the best in the league at keeping players fit.
We could genuinely say we have at least 2 players competing for every position in the team at the moment.

Hopefully James gets a decent run out today. I have a feeling he is the best of the lot when it comes to our youth players, and would be great to show it.

As an aside, I think Kovacic has been a standout so far for us this season. The lack of goals and assists is a shame, but his overall play (in particular, his ability to take people on and break a press) has been brilliant. As much as I love a player who can dictate pace (like Jorginho), if RLC is coming back in the form he left us in, then a Kova - Kante - RLC midfield 3 could be fantastic.

I've held off from taunting on the Spuds section until we've played tonight, just in case it all goes boobs up. I'm going tonight, mainly because it was cheap.

We can definitely laugh at Spurs now. And West Ham. Certainly not the toughest test he'll ever face, but James looked great tonight.

Despite getting 7, our finishing is woeful. CHO had about three 1 on 1s and fluffed them all.

Agreed. Reece James looked great. Great assist for the Zouma goal, that cross........and the goal was fantastic.

Great to see all those players get on the score sheet, will give them confidence going forward.

Utd in the next round though.......

Great to see the youngsters standing up to the challenge even though it wasn't the toughest of tests. The transfer ban could well be the best thing to happen to our club for years with Frank and Jody's belief and confidence in the youth we have. Win, lose or draw at the moment, I feel we are moving in the right direction and although not expecting it, any success in the next couple of years would be a welcome bonus. I feel more proud of our team now than I have for quite a while.

It's a weird one for me! It's great seeing the youngsters play, certainly gives me a lot pride. But then we're Chelsea, we win trophies despite the ups and downs. So if we get to the end of the season without winning anything, I still see it as a disappointing season in most respects!

I don't like making excuses other clubs do and I know Frank has that mentality too.

Exactly how long have you been supporting the Blues ?? Do you not remember life before 2003 when we were used to not winning and before we started the Russian revolution and not so many people hated us !!

Tweet from Joe Edwards (One of the Chelsea youth coaches - now promoted to first team) with a pic of his under 8 kids a few years back.
Reece James and Marc Guehi in this pic together with Sam Cummings (Goalie, on the bench last night) , Conner Gallagher (Loan at Charlton) and Dujon Sterling (Loan at Wigan)
Also has Rhian Brewster who Liverpool nicked off us and Povedo Ocampo - now at Man City, and Taylor-Crossdale who was realeased in the summer and is now at Fulham.

And this was just one years intake,

Grimsby fan here last night shows the gulf in class between the top of the PL and mid (hopefully) league 2.

Can we have some of your players on loan please?

Yes, a couple of FA cups, a league cup and uefa cup but not good enough, nor expected, to challenge for the real accolades of league or champions league until Roman came with his cash. We were a bit of a decent 'cup side' (bit like Arsenal have been for quite a few years) and no body minded that but the minute you splash a bit of cash and start to dominate everyone hates you.
