I posted on the EFC thread that I find it surprising that nobody is asking the question about City pulling out of the Everton game on Monday because of a Covid outbreak, while providing little in the way of hard proof and then pulling Chelsea apart 6 days later.
6 1st team players with COVID plus at least 2 staff members going down iin the days before the game, the “bubble” obviously compromised? The PL seemed happy with the proof, on yesterday’s dispoay, Everton were very lucky the game got pulled.
Any player from abroad would typically take at least a season to start performing in the Prem. More so young ones. So having so many in the team, as well as inexperienced home grown players, regardless of how talented they are, should limit the expectations this season.
If the buying youth policy was driven by the club and also having an inexperienced manager, one would imagine that the expectations are that top 4 is unlikely (last season should be no indication of future performance under the circumstances). So Frank's position should be safe for at least another season.
If however the signings were driven by Frank, then not so much...

Indeed. Lampard is not setting the direction, the board are. It may have been prompted by the loss of Hazard and the transfer ban, but rather than go for established players they have decided on a 'buy young for the future' policy. It remains to be seen whether they get cold feet at the first signs of trouble.
They may well decide that a more experienced manager could get more out of the players in the short term, but presumably they would have known the risk when they hired him.
So a huge admission of failure by the board if he isn't given this season at least - I think he will be.
