It's always a slog at Stoke. A few seasons ago we went there and thumped them 4-0, but that aside, it's just a war of attrition. Cahill grabbed a late winner last season.
That would be the 4-0 where Walters scored 2 ogs and missed a pen.I'd take 4-0.
Wind is less of an issue now the corner at the away end has been filled in.

Could you have a word with your lads not to try too hard tomorrow, seems we only have 1 fit centre half......I'm fearing double figures
Stoke always like to stick a spanner in the works no matter who's playing. (Hopefully not today though !!) Hope they don't parade whats left of the 1972 team again before kick-off, (who knows, they may even get a game). Being a pot-urb myself, I get sick of hearing 1972 mentioned every Stoke - Chelsea match ! monty999 said:

I won't mention said game.....what about the 6-2 cup win in the mid 70's or the 3-2 under Jose or the cup win a couple of years ago,can I mention them In all seriousness if Chelsea don't win by an absolute hatfull against a team playing 1 centre half it's time to give up

Yes, I was there for two of those, but there's no prizes handed out for league cup peno shoot outs no matter how desperately the trophy cabinet needs filling. In all seriousness if Chelsea don't win by an absolute hatfull against a team playing 1 centre half it's time to give up
Actually,I thought Stoke did well for 75 mins today, but then they changed at the back (Fletcher went centre half) and totally collapsed.
I can only remember us having 4 or 5 attempts on goal.... and scored 4 of them !

Yes it was a strange game, Chelsea weren't at their best but were clinical when our defence went into suicide mode.....we had chances including an open goal but couldn't take them,we played quite well, but when your defence consists of 1 centre back and a woefully passed it Glen Johnson alongside and a centre forward at wingback you know it's likely to be a long afternoon.... and Hughes compounds matters by not bringing on the substitute centre half....who I might add has never played for the 1st team...but puts 33yr old midfield player Fletcher in place of the injured centre half who started lolActually,I thought Stoke did well for 75 mins today, but then they changed at the back (Fletcher went centre half) and totally collapsed.

Kamikaze all round by the potters
Bit odd that Crouch's tackle wasn't even mentioned on MOTD last night

I accept that Cahill and Luiz deserved their reds, but if that's the case how on earth is this not one as well?

I was expecting Crouch to get slaughtered. To be fair he went for the ball but missed/was late and it was the follow through that was high.It did look bad though.https://twitter.com/1michelle_payne/status/9117408...

I'm convinced he only gave a yellow because he hadn't sent Alonso off earlier......wich I think would have been a tad harsh as I didn't think the 2nd foul warranted a yellow.Clearly Conte was worried hence taking him off immediately
