What a day at Manchester today. I especially admired their good behaviour; no sign of anyone making any noise that might have disturbed the players. There were even three occasions where something happened and everyone behind us in the boxes had cause to look up from their phones :-)

I’ve just been thumbing through the MU thread and some clown on there is talking about the “amazing atmosphere” today! There was no such thing but I fear pointing this out may cause upset!!

It’s almost like they don’t have enough problems so they have to heap on a whole load they’ve created themselves

No point getting mad about the penalty decision like DW because we're absolutely doomed anyway rofl

We’re really not. Next season the JSS will still be there, most of the squad will still be there (because who would buy them?!?), and the sun will still shine. We’ll also have something in the region of £300m pounds from two premiership seasons that you’d have been laughed at for predicting as little as three years ago. The future is very bright for little old Huddersfield!

I know it’s described as mutual consent, but struggling to see the value in doing this. Huddersfield don’t really belong in the PL and are seriously punching above their weight by being there. That’s not being harsh for the sake of it, I think Wagner has worked miracles to get you there and keep you there for a second season. Shame he’s gone IMO.

I’d argue that they do belong as they got the points to get there and that no club has a right to be in the top league

Otherwise Preston and Aston Villa would have better shouts than Man City

I did state that I wasn’t being harsh, it’s more about their resources, budgets, fanbase and level of expectation. They were once a great club, but that’s a long time ago. I don’t think they’ll be back in the PL for a long, long time (if ever), much like Swindon, Bradford, Barnsley, Blackpool and similar clubs who were massively punching above their weight by being there.

It’s a shame they couldn’t hold onto Wagner and either try to change his mind, or at least let him see out the season and see if he’d feel less pressured after relegation.

I was thinking more immediately with respect to our PL status. Hopefully the club have been financially prudent and kept things on an even keel - fingers crossed.

Sad to see DW leave, all the best to him for the future beer

Total nonsense, promoted fair and square. It's as simple as that, as no team has a divine right to be in the league regardless of history, crowd size or past performances.

You did state that and I picked on it a little. I was really getting at the fans of so called big clubs who sometimes think they have a right to top league footie and for some reason it agrivates me a short big clubs do change over years and I love to see smaller clubs have their chance in the top flight.

It’s not about being a fan of a big club, it’s about whether a club was genuinely focussed on promotion or whether it came out of the blue. In the 4 years you were in the Championship prior to promotion you finished 19th, 16th, 17th & 19th, to say your promotion was a surprise is an understatement. Staying in the PL was an amazing feat, as I’ve already said. I’ve also said that losing Wagner is a real shame for you as a club. I’m not sure how I could’ve been much more complimentary.

I like lesser clubs in the PL, I enjoy away trips to lower league clubs in the FA Cup, but it’s very much a rare occurrence that one comes up and establishes themselves in the PL for much longer than a season on their first trip and they often struggle for a five year stay after that. It’s also really tough on you, but the reality is top clubs won’t get relegated and will be there until the oil money runs out for some of them.

Have you read my subsequent replies? I don’t understand the chip on the shoulder that comes with any criticism of your club.

Cardiff, another awful team gets lambasted for being in the Prem just because it's a Welsh club, despite playing in the top division a hundred years ago!

Shame to see Wagner go, few managers could keep that team up.

I’m not a Huddersfield fan, but even if they had a “lucky” season and got promoted then it’s good for the game to have interest outside of the top 6. Most fans don’t live for titles or FA cups but they love a chance to upset the established order. We all love a giant killing as long as it’s not our club?

Huddersfield have done well to get into the Prem and stay there. I hope they put up a fight over the remaining games
