I think they've reached a point of having two "first" 'keepers who are fairly equal in terms of ability but are both short of ultimate first team capability. As such, one has to go and Karius being 24, and Klopp's signing him, means it will be he who stays.

Mignolet's spill of Xhaka's shot against Arsenal appears to have been the final instance of error. Karius will get a run but I think Klopp will sign another 'keeper in the summer at the least.

Karius's distribution is far better than Migs, and with the pace we have in attack, its what probably gives him the edge. They're both very mediocre though.

Just watched MOTD2, much more enjoyable second time round.

Very impressed with AOC during interviews. He's very articulate (for a footballer) and he cuts in if the foreign players are getting difficult or awkward questions.

Hope he continues to improve.

Klopp has chosen. Karius is 24 and apparently now seen as having the most to offer longer term. De Gea was a shambles in his first season. We live in hope.

frown Feckin hell I pray to god this ain't Klopp's plan.... The guy's body language is terrifying when the ball comes anywhere near him.... I don't rate Ming's

particularly highly but he is light years ahead of this clown... Surely Ward has to be worth a try? FFS I would rather bring David James out of retirement

than Karius.

I am glad Mings has been dropped. This should be the watershed moment we've all longed for alongside the VvD signing! We shouldn't feel sorry for Mings - it has been the accumulation of very basic performances over many, many games that has seen him dropped and Klopp is finally taking action defensively and he should be applauded.

This is the moment Karius HAS to step up. Most of us wonder what Klopp see's in him but we need to support the lad - I think a lot of the negative social media and punditry has had a huge effect on him, he has to be able to mentally put that to one side and focus solely on himself.

I think people are forgetting Karius did get a run, and did as bad a job as Mings, if not worse. There was a reason Mings got put back into the first team despite Klopp's first choice having had a run of games.
If we're gonna keep Karius, and it looks like we are, he needs a proper run, by that I mean a full season between the sticks win lose or draw.

It will be painful, but for a keeper it's for the best if we're not signing a replacement.

Migs has had 200 games for Liverpool, 141 in the league.

I can’t remember more than 10 good games in 200 where he saved us points.

I can think of at least 10, just in last 2 years, where he’s cost us points.

I reckon he’s costs us at least 9 points a season himself alone since he’s been here

I think he’ll be very popular at the club, on and off the pitch ... after Arsenal, anything is an improvement.

I cant believe people actually see them on a par!! Mings is better IMO, a lot better!

I think its the same old case of getting a bad reputation last season and not being able to shake it, he has also had a bad defence in front of him for many of his games. I don't like pinpointing players to rip them apart but Karius should not be our 1st keeper when Mings is available.

I agree -- Migs makes fewer mistakes than Karius thats simple
Whether Klopp feels giving him that backing will get rid of some only he will know... one thing I am pretty sure on though he will make a GK his priority in summer unless Karius is the 2nd coming now onward..
Its a very risky call at the business end of the season

My feeling on Karius is he plays football like he looks - very fancy , like going for the ball at the weekend with his fists - he plays with an awe of confidence that neur should have...but he has half the ability

Would love us to drop 80m on Oblak, if we can pay 75m for a keeper then GK has to be as important....

At least Klopp had chosen. Something that's been long overdue. Two No.1s rarely work. We've got form on this... Didn't we buy Dudek and Kirkland, not just in the same window but on the same day? Ridiculous! At least everyone knows where they stand now. Hopefully that will make things easier and Karius can show us something we've not seen yet.

Looks like the FA have completely forgotten about the Holgate/Firmino incident!

Mings is definitely better than Karius, from what we've seen in a Liverpool shirt.

However, something needed to happen to shake up the defence and goalkeeping. Mings is just a very average keeper who instills zero confidence and has zero leadership. Karius now has a chance; if he flops then Klopp writes a cheque. One way or the other, we should see improvement in this area in the next 6 months. Which has been needed for the last 4 years!!
