The reality is agents have multiple clients across multiple clients, players speak to players at other clubs who are mates or ex-team mates. Clubs/managers looking for a certain type of player is going to get round a small industry pretty quickly, indeed it would be hard to keep quiet.

I wonder how reverse solicitation works, i.e. agent of player under contract approaches manager/club agent and asks "are you interested in my player?", if club agent says "yes if he was for sale, but we would have to ask his club first"

Seems to me you've got to work hard to be stupid enough to get caught beyond reasonable doubt

I would rather waste the time of a phone call than go through what we went through not to even bid for VVD

It's still September. It certainly COULD be that top 5 in May but with another 8 months of footy to go that might be a wee bit premature.

Premature certainly, but we have seen all teams play a few times now, and I don't see the Jan window changing much - looking at the two squads I think Spurs is still much better balanced due to their decent defence

I don't know why you wouldn't set up the rest of the team to defend properly and then leave those 4 to do their stuff.

Get in 2 proper DM's to protect the back 4 and you'd see a pretty significant difference.

What concerns me a little and ought to concern Chelsea fans too is that Spurs are 4th having not yet won at home. If they can get some results going at wembley they could easily challenge for 3rd or even, dare I say it, us for 2nd. City will win it even though I dont think they are quite the finished article that the media think they are.

I think this sort of thing is what frustrates fans the most.

We hear the argument all the time that 'the manager sees them day in day out blah blah' but if you'd asked Arsenal fans for the last 10 years what they needed they'd tell you (and Wenger would do the opposite). Same here...everyone can see that you have high quality front 4, all it needs is a couple of decent DM's to protect the back 4 and you'd be laughing.
