Fair point about Hendo. I think he works hard but he does seem to slow things up. Maybe that's what he's told to do - I guess Klopp would drop him if he wasn't happy? He's not the dynamic player he was in the "Suarez season" but I remember Sir Alex pointing out he would have lots of injury issues because of his gait and the way he ran. Hendo said it was nonsense but time has proven Fergie right. Perhaps its those injuries that have taken his edge away.

For me that's where he will end up
Not the quality in pass, goals to warrant the forward role
Much better blocking space, tackling , winning headers
I guess the question is what does Can himself think? Clearly Klopp had publicly called him out on his contact. And rightly so.Not the quality in pass, goals to warrant the forward role

If Can sees himself as Dybala's replacement I think there's a clear gap in his attributes and his ambitions.
If he wants to be an Alonso he could draw up an obvious development plan.
I suppose he's waiting to see where we are by January.

There is more chance of me becoming Dybalas replacement - you may as well say he would be Phils replacement If Can sees himself as Dybala's replacement I think there's a clear gap in his attributes and his ambitions.

No chance - he has nowhere near enough ability on the ball to play that role - many players see themselves playing other positions, in reality most of the time they are told what position will be suit them in the long run.... Trent for eg always played attacking midfield in youth

Reading all the comments and enjoying the thread. I have one thing to add and that is Henderson. I think his work rate is one of the highest in the team and similar to Milners but they are very different approaches to the game (probably by instruction). Henderson's roal seems to be breaking up the attacks, protecting the back and distributing the ball however what has changed is his forward passes and runs- they seem literally non existent. His passes are just sideways now and he is very reluctant to have a go or take a shot, all of which just slows the game right down. Milner on the other hand loves getting forward and whipping balls into the box and as a result, the team seems so much more fluid and exciting.
Just my thoughts and I often think Hendo's contribution rarely gets a mention but something has changed about him and I think it's his confidence on the ball perhaps
I think Jammy is likely correct. Different roles. It was the same discussion about Allen too. I think they are used to keep possession to reduce the number of attacks on our defence, defending by stopping the other team have the ball. Unfortunately it can slow things down a bit much when we'd benefit from a quick ball before the opposition have time to get everyone back to fill up the box and make it hard to get a good shot. (Hence me saying it is not bad luck that stopped us scoring lots this season).Just my thoughts and I often think Hendo's contribution rarely gets a mention but something has changed about him and I think it's his confidence on the ball perhaps

For me, it goes back to the question of why not employ a dedicated defensive midfielder then? Ok we don't have one in our squad but equally I don't think Henderson by keeping possession or playing short passes really offers that protection to the defence and instead ends up slowing the game down. Next season, I'd like see a strong DM behind Keita. Jacko.1 said:

Trouble is I don't see him breaking down any attacks either by interception or tackle - he is a red shirt which occupies a space, and therefore eliminates a bit of territory but that seems to be it (contrast with a Matic or Kante). He spends most of his time doing 1-2s with the CB (even when he has time to turn and face forwards) or passing sideways to an FB or Wij/Can.
Not sure we can afford such one dimensional players in this day and age - running around a lot is no longer sufficient

I think you are probably right which is a shame as I genuinely feel Hendo doesn't get much of a shout for his workrate -not a midfield enforcer like Gerrard though but no one ever will
Nor just a top player but a nice guy too

8 in 12 and 3 assists and people still not happy he misses a few chances

I think people are sometimes just frustrated as he looks like he could go 'next level' at times. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/foot...

Looks to be a fantastic signing too.
