There is a solution, but the mods don't seem to have the swingers. Post something that a certain precocious poster doesn't agree with on the Game of Thrones thread and it's an instant ban, but certain posters, one who I have my suspicions is actually a Liverpool supporter and a number of Spuds should get a red card and this thread would really be no different to most other football threads. They claim they don't break any rules, but they post bile simply to get a reaction. Mods, do your job.
I stuck my head in the Game of Thrones thread but when someone got flamed for posting a spoiler of "it's a good one this week" then someone else explained the 3 or 4 bits from the next episode and it was deemed ok i decided i would not get involved. No idea who the posters were but it was 2 or 3 weeks ago iirc

Well there we go chaps, that ends that one

So basically English clubs should now be speaking to agents of all top stars who have not renewed a contract in last 2 years - there will be some bargainst to pick up i would imagine
Isn't that normally the case? Player only has a year left on his contract so is worth much less than he normally would be?

If Barkley, Sanchez, Ox, Ozil were on 4 year contracts still how much do you think they would be going for in this window vs what they will actually go for?

When Coutinho signed his contract with you how much would his buyout likely have been? 100m max I would have thought. Without that in the contract you are able to hold out for much more, surely that's a good thing?

bet Barca smiled when they put the 200 mill clause in- 'no one will ever pay that...'

I was deffo one who last year think Pogba was massively over rated and that was from watching properly during games, seemed a massive luxury and who didnt do enough for the team - and didnt contribute enough in goals to warrant that
I have seen improvement this year, probably with Matic, but to say he is the best CM in the world is just silly

He was given the runaround by Kroos and Modric the other week but a couple of games against Noble and Fer have certainly vaulted him back into the best in the world category wink

From the player's perspective they are a good thing.
But the market moves too quickly for it to be good for the club on the whole.

One of my clients went to a country where they are mandatory and the figure put on was stratospheric at the time. If he turns out to be a vaguely competent top league player it doesn't seem that mad now.

Agreed. Just look at the last couple of years of transfer inflation.

If the Prem had to insert buyout clauses into contracts you know that many players have been sold for a lot more than the buy out would have been at the time to the benefit of the clubs.

E.g Bale, Walker, for Spurs. Suarez and Sterling for you guys.

He is a Lukakau type player.. decent enough and will certainly shine against the smaller teams.. but I feel they will both be left wanting against the real top sides as already shown... DDG has been their best player for the last 5 years by a country mile.. Ibra was class and Matic looks like a great signing also, Pogba.... Not in the same league too flashy.. gives the ball away trying outrageous passes too much imho.

Could we have a definition of an 'explosive midfielder' please? Thanks.

He reminds me a little of Ronaldo when he first arrived at Utd. Lots of tricks, very little end product. There's no doubt he's massively talented, but then so were Ronaldo AND Balotelli...

I laughed at that too.

It was actually "a defensively explosive midfielder'...

Which makes even less sense!!

Pogba is very good and pointing where he thinks the ball should be going and larking about on social media, he's pretty good at football but was hyped, looks nothing special in this league!

Would he even get in our squad, let alone first team?
