Report says he'd rather go to City ... I'm not sure you need him anyway.

As far as I’m aware, City have offered him a deal at the end of the season and a signing bonus etc but Arsenal will want to get something for him and if we were to offer an amount for him I’d imagine they would accept it (if Sanchez does too).
All the talk is that City are prepared to pay £20m, so it’s a Jan deal for them too. GTO-3R said:
I thought the 20m was a bonus for him to sign and the didn’t want to sign him in jan and upset the balance in the team? I’ve no idea what going on so just have to wait and see. Hope we sign him though, he’s a class act.
Nope that’s City’s offer to Arsenal. We’ve offered £35m apparently. Stupid money for someone who’s free in a few months. Gavia said:

How much are you going to have to pay for a player like that next summer unless its on a free ? (in which case it isn't really free because you are going to be bidding for a massive signing on bonus & a huge wage instead of a transfer fee).
If we can get him for that now then in the long term its probably very good business & cash in the bank earns you nothing these days.

It depends, if he signs a big/long contract then 35M for a player of that quality is extremely cheap. Where his contract is with the Goons is irrelevant.

He’s just turned 29, he’s got this (5 year) contract and then it’ll be 12 month extensions, or let go. The figure is daft though, it effectively means that even a contract at its death and at the point where a player can sign a deal with their new club, still has a huge transfer value, which makes no commercial sense. Özil gone very quiet too. Has he signed a precontract with someone?

This 100%. Get the deal done now and don’t linger on it. 35m would be a steal for him and what he will bring to the team. He’s a nigh on 80-90m player ordinarily imo.
I'm still very dubious about it actually happening, but at the price quoted it gets filed under 'no brainer'
The league 'may' be out of reach but there are still Cups to play for, plus he's an actual honest to goodness winger worthy of the 7
A front 3 of Martial Lingard and Sanchez playing off Lukaku
Still think he'll go City though
I'm slightly dubious about our Sanchez interest. Arsenal want £35m but City only want to pay £20m. What better way to force Citys hand into upping their bid than a rumour about their local rivals attempting to hijack the deal with a better offer at the last minute.
Still, he'd improve our team so I wouldn't mind if it wasn't just a rumour.

It’s still peanuts to a State sponsored team. Still, he'd improve our team so I wouldn't mind if it wasn't just a rumour.

City won't up their offer any more than 20 million, because they know the player really wants to go there and play for Pep.
Not bothered either way because Jesus will be fit in 2/3 weeks.
Why though? Didn't Pep fk him over at Barca? Hence him leaving? Not bothered either way because Jesus will be fit in 2/3 weeks.
I think this is why you have cooled, you have an abundance of attackers as it is

French side Paris St-Germain have also been linked with the Chile forward but Sanchez's preference is to join Manchester City.
However, given Gabriel Jesus' knee injury is now not as bad as initially feared - City boss Pep Guardiola said on Thursday the Brazil forward could be back in action "in two or three weeks" - the club do not view such a huge outlay on a player who would be available for nothing in the summer as being worthwhile.
City also feel the player is determined to leave Arsenal come what may this month, so their stance could lead to him joining a rival club.
Guardiola would not be drawn on his interest in Sanchez at Friday's news conference before their trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
He said: "I don't answer. I understand the question, you do your job, you know my answer. I'm focused on Liverpool."
So what's the situation if City offer 'only £20m' but Utd offer more, maybe £35m - he's still under contract so if he wants to go to City and Arsenal won't sell for City's offer but would for Utd's - then he might pay the difference himself - £15m? Really?
Or he stays at Arsenal ... who don't have to sell him.
Modern footy eh?

He doesn’t have to go anywhere. He can run his contract down and the sign for whoever he wants for free. Or he stays at Arsenal ... who don't have to sell him.

Back in the 90s there was a brilliant film (very subjective) called The Last Boy Scout, a throwaway line was “goddamn free agents, ruined the goddamn game” aimed at Damon Wayans’ character. Still remember it now and how true it is about PL football. It’s worth noting the similarities between the games and how the PL could head down the same route. Took American Football about 15 years to recover from their free agent problems and they had the draft and salary caps to help them.
