It'll be interesting to see how Pog performs if he plays. Not sure I like Maureen criticising him in the press conference.
I saw the presser. I’ve got no issues with what Maureen said. He’s been honest and it sounds like Pogba’s on the same page. If he’s a player that can’t take constructive criticism then there’s no hope for him. Doesn’t sound like that’s the case at least. I’d like to think we’ll see a reaction from PP today. jammy-git said:
I think the general consensus on here was that there should be two holding midfielders with him in more of an advanced midfield role - similar to how Juventus used him I believe. With Lingard I doubt that's how Utd are going to set up, but as you say, we'll see.
I have to say that I agree.I think PP is wasted stuck in the middle / defensive roles. He needs more freedom to hurt teams and dictate the forward play.

would you say more as a no 10? i don't think jose sees him that way.
Nah. His role is as the most attacking of a midfield 3. Something like this would suit him perfectly, in my opinion:Matic, Wanyama
Pogba
Martial, Lingard
Sanchez
Or you could play him as the LH side of a flatish 3 attacking CMs (but I think it is a more challenging formation to get right).
Matic
Lingard, Herrera, Pogba
Martial, Sanchez
That might work if the two attackers can both spin wide and give the team more width. The player in Herrera's role would also have to be better than Herrera for it to work, as he would have to make up for the defensive weaknesses of the other 2 CMs. Imagine Keane in his prime or Fletcher in his 1 or 2 fantastic seasons. Not a common type of player, that.
For all my raving about Pogba, and I do think he is absolutely different class from almost anyone else in the PL, I do see that he is a hard player to get the most out of. But he is very young. With the right mentality, he could become one of the best CMs of all time, but it is more likely that he will remain in a more advanced role (for temperament reasons - you have to be a bit mad to want to be the kind of CM I am talking about, because it is an insanely difficult and demanding and responsible role).
Crap game so far. Watched the Sherr Weds vs Swansea match earlier and that was painful, the ground couldn’t have been more than 50% full, so much for the romance of the Cup.
Oh and Ian Drake is painful as a commentator. You’d think United were playing a non-league side the way he’s patronising Huddersfield.

Very contentious var decision. Let's hope those lines drawn by a 4yr old were not the deciding factor.
Fair play to Huddersfield so far taking it to Utd, it's hardly a settled team so I'm not expecting great link play tonight. Utd just look a bit lethargic. Sanchez particularly. Great goal take by lukaku tho that's why he's up there.

I thought same, they've played as you would expect a premiership team to play! Oh and Ian Drake is painful as a commentator. You’d think United were playing a non-league side the way he’s patronising Huddersfield.
