Confirmed by BT Sport as definitely onside. I thought was only supposed to override blatant errors not hairs breadth decisions anyway.
My understanding too, lino didn't flag don't know why it even went to VAR

Feels like we are playing with 9, really don't know what we are trying to do. As for VAR, well.. thought it would help, but its becoming a farce. Why even try to use it when it's clearly not yet fit for purpose?

Leaving aside the obvious fact that each goal UTD score should be disallowed this trial for VAR is possibly the worst trial ever.

If they allow it to proceed without major changes then it's a joke.

The decision and VAR just got a proper pasting off the pundits and Graham Poll. Piss poor decision. If it’s come down to it analysing to that extent, then we may as well accept every decision needs a full replay and get used to games lasting forever.

My comment about Ian Darke is that he’s talking about Huddersfield in such a romantic way, you’d think they were fighting insurmountable odds and facing a team that’s 10 leagues above them. I know he’s got to big up the chances of a shock, but this is two PL sides playing each other, so either winning wouldn’t be a shock.

I think BT are getting desperate as the FA Cup has gone back in the doldrums after a couple of season resurgence in popularity. Unless and until the winners get a CL spot, it’ll never be the glamour cup that it once was. It’s still a good trophy to win, just without the romance it used to have.

What puzzles me is how an error like that can occur at this stage. Surely the whole system has been checked to death offline last season? They had the matches and the Sky tools afterwards to compare the new system against. If it’s not ready, it shouldn’t be used.
Even though it’s ‘just ‘ the FA Cup this season, it’s still top level football.

That’s how to beat the VAR, play the pass while your team mate’s bang on the halfway line. smile

I’m surprised they didn’t review it and put in a wonky half way line hehe

It's been getting triallied in Germany as well and is getting a pasting there too. I'm assuming it's not the same company as Hawkeye (who must have pissed themselves at those graphics)

Used to correct clear errors only? Hmmmmm

Benefit of the doubt to the attacker? Hmmmmm

Look at the position of the linesman in the third photo, couldn’t have been better placed and he’d be getting all the plaudits for his decision.

This is the photo that VAR made the decision from. Quality lines wobble

This is the one that thy had 8 minutes later to justify their decision. Benefit of the doubt tothe attackers?

How is it a clear error? look at the positioning of the linesman. It couldn’t be any better

Happy with that tbh given the circumstances. Sanchez started to look comfortable and linked with lukaku. Defense solid. 2 chances 2 goals.
Nice to see Bailley back too. Job done.

We have to play better than that if we have any ambition to win silverware this season. Pleased to be in the last 8 but god it wasn’t pretty at times. They HAVE to find a way to play a little quicker. Mind you having a midfield 3 of Matic, Carrick and McTominay was always going to result in a slightly laboured middle. Luka was consistent 2 shots 2 goals. Pleased for him. We have to find a way to create more opportunities though.

As you say, that midfield 3 is hardly going to produce sparkling football. Job done, but the way we were exposed time and time again on our left in the first half was dreadful - quite why it wans't addressed before half time I don't know. Maybe Jose wanted to give Shaw a workout hehe... still he coped pretty well.

Lukaku looks to have found his confidence again, which is a plus, and Bailly back too is great timing.

True but Huddersfield played well and pushed hard first half. They flagged at the end. At times we don't seem sharp or incisive enough tho going forward. Pleased for lukaku tho man of match and 2 well taken goals. 21 for the season already the old "donkey".

What’s interesting is how teams really up their game against us. Huddersfield really pushed us and chased us down really hard. That makes it difficult to play football when you’re playing as slowly as us. We have to move the ball quicker and have runners.

We need to speed things up and that makes their pressing game much harder to do. City and Liverpool play at pace with constant movement, that’s what makes them such an effective attacking force. Their defences are both weaker than our first choice, but their attacking poise means it rarely gets tested.

If we sped it up we could have the best of both worlds.

They did but we made it easy for them to keep possession. We were just kicking the ball out of the defensive third aimlessly. Lindelof the main culprit. We should have done better to retain possession perhaps even buying cheap fouls to break up the play a little.

All things being equal it should result in 2 titanic semi’s.

Presumably, if Spurs get through, their game will have be played away from Wembley.
